Title: Icon from Metar
Post by: westhillman on January 26, 2019, 01:28:35 PM
I have been following the recent discussion on the Icon from Metar issues.  I have spotted a potential bug in that when an auto produced metar shows a cloud group with TCU at the end, this results in any rain in the metar being ignored.  Instead, a 'mostly cloudy' icon is produced. I have included a couple of screenshots to show the issue.

I will need a copy of the metar file to be able to check/test/fix

Would do Brian, but there is nothing contained in the WD Metar folder.  It seems that the program only makes use of the current data and then disposes of it, or am I missing something?

WD should be downloading the metar to the folder as set in the metar download directory in the metar download setup

Probably unrelated,  but metars stopped being downloaded after 1350 UTC today. The tafs are still coming in, showing that the download procedure is still working. Metars are still available from the NOAA website so its not clear what the problem is.

Exactly the same here. (Coincidentally, I updated to 10.37S90 this morning, but that's obviously not the reason!)

NOAA have changed something - metardownloadlog says "object moved" - perhaps it should now be secure (https) Brian?

it looks like a change by noaa then
(nothing I have changed)
the url to get the metar might have changed or similar

actually if you put the url into a web browser it changes to https
so that is probably all the change that is needed by me to make

let me try that

its not clear if you have updated to use the latest cronmetardownload.exe version
(that is only used if you have set to use http download in the metar download setup)

I know, but Alix mini PC is very weak hardware for any newer OS. Instalation any Linux distribution is problem too. Maybe you could do something like rasberry PI and WD console for Alix?
Rasberry PI and WD console do not support my weather station WeatherHawk 240SS, unfortunately...
