Question about ftp upload totals

What is the second number supposed to equal?

Total bytes uploaded = 80125 K Total bytes uploaded for the month = -103225958 K

The negative has me wondering…

i think its becuase the number has gone out of range for the variable integer, and so its starts at its highest value -ve
i will fix that by changing to a longword variable which can go much higher
but better:
i show it as Megabytes…
next full version update of wd will have that new ftpupd.exe in it

Cool… I was just curious…

uploading a new full 10.25o now
and i took the opurtunity to add kb/sec upload speed!
(someone asked me to do that along time ago…and it got put on the too to heap…well 10 minutes of work and its working  )

Brian,

Almost certain that the figures are both overstated by a factor of 1000 - i.e. 80125 K is really 80125 bytes. Divide by a 1000 will reduce the possiblilty of overflow!

its possible…
can others verify that?

also the new full 10.25o with the new kb/sec upload speed…
i think i have that too small by a factor of 10 too…
can others check that?

I am not running 10.25o yet but maybe this will convince Brian to let me :stuck_out_tongue:

I upload approx 180 MB of data daily from WD, this does not include my web cam images…

So I am not sure that the figures are off by a factor of 1000 ?

-Bob

yes, you can upgrade (i thought i did send a PM, LOL) #-o

I am downloading latest now. Hope it don’t go BOOM LOL

I will compare upload figures with my providers records and see how close they compare, won’t be able to get a true comparison until the Morning of the 14th when i get the full 24 hour report for the 13th…

-Bob

also check the new upload speed reported in the new ftpupd.exe program (bring that up visible to see it)
i think i have it too low by a factor of 10
it shows 10 kb / sec for me…when i think i should be more like 100!

Just a thought, not confusing Bytes and bits / second ?

most likely!

its normaly shown as bits per second isnt it…

I have a program called NetMeter installed that shows download/upload speeds. It shows uploads in kb/s. It’s difficult to tell exactly how much WD’s ftp is off in kb/s…but it appears to be at least 1/2 of what NetMeter shows.

i have just compared a upload with good ol ws_ftp, which shows upload speeds (compared the same file to the same server) and wd appears to be showing the value 10 times too small for me in testing i have just done
so will fix that

and ws_ftp does report kb/sec

Ok exactly where do I find…

Total bytes uploaded = xxxxx K
Total bytes uploaded for the month = xxxxxxxx K

-Bob

under view, ftp log
(in WD)

That was what I thought but mine only shows…

“Total bytes transferred month to date: XXXXXXXXXX”

There is no data for Today?

-Bob

It should be in your ftp log as follows:

list of files uploaded*
C:\WDISPLAY\webfiles\dailyhighlowbaroetc.gif

C:\WDISPLAY\webfiles\trends.gif
C:\WDISPLAY\webfiles\wx.html
C:\WDISPLAY\webfiles\customscreen2.gif
FTPUPD.EXE finished at 00:16:46 6/12/2005
Time taken = 0.48 minutes
Total bytes uploaded = 7223 K
Total bytes uploaded for the month = 16896 Mb
FTPUPD.EXE started at 00:20:06 06/12/05
agenda items to do…

are those kisses bob?
what about hugs?

Mine reads as you say however I do not see the first Line “Total bytes uploaded” as corresponding with a full day rather that appears to indicate the amount of data uploaded during that particular upload…
