Jaycar Electronics NZ selling wireless stations

Just found this unit in an advertising flyer for Jaycar in NZ. Retail price NZD $298.95. Looks a little like another La Crosse clone, but I couldn’t be sure. No info about any RS232 or usb output.

It also only does a max windspeed of 100 kpH - no good for most parts of Wellington

There’s been some discussion on weathermatrix recently about these Thermor stations, apparently very inexpensive in Canada. http://www.weathermatrix.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=885&highlight=thermor

Some interesting comments - thanks for the link.

i see they have gone back the cups…
does it have serial output?
yet again la crosse will most likely have a very different and weird data protocol system if it does

Looking at the link to the discussion on Weathermatrix, no serial port on this model. But it seems there may be an advanced model in 2006. I think I read that one of the owners was going to try a hack and see if he could find a data output.

I wonder what the specifics on the weather station are.

Hopefully we will know by the time the one in 2006 comes out, because the specs on the website that the company provided us with don’t tell us too much.

Thanks for the info 41South!

Hey… I bought one. its great !! I pulled it apart to see if it had a facility for usb on the
circuit board …it does and looks like its upgradable.
Also there are guys using solar powered garden lights hooked up to rechargables to
the unit …cheers
