How to download a NOAA "5 day forecast "

This faq only works for US locations. Sorry rest of the world.

First, you need to find what “zone” you live in. There are many ways, but the easiest way is to go to
http://weather.gov/
and enter your city name and state in the “local forecast” upper left corner.

You will now go to your local forecast page. In the centre-right of the page are the “Current Conditions”, click on the link circled below:

Now look for you zone code in the URL at the top of the page and make a note of it.

The number in the example is ohz012 for this local forecast area.
Now in Weather Display, go to:
Control Panel
FTP & Connections

then
NOAA Forecast Download (1)

The link (2) will take you to a list of folders, at the bottom of the list click the folder called “zone”.
If you click on the folder with your state abbreviation it will take you to the files containing the forecasts for the state.

A) Select #2 Setup
B) Enter /data/forecasts/zone/xx
where xx is your state abbreviation
C) Enter your local forecast area followed by .txt.
In the example it is ohz012.txt. CASE SENSITIVE! All lowercase letters! (note - then click the button “add to list”)
D) Select Downloads On
E) Select Test
Your forecast should now be downloaded.
F) Now Select a 5 day forcast file to use
and steer to where your forecast is downloaded to. Most likely it is c:\wdisplay It will be the same name as you enter in step C)
G) Now select how often you want to download the forecast, noting how often the forecast is updated as there’s no need to download it any more often that that.
