Labels on webcam .jpg are fuzzier than on .gif

Due to the new/continuing WU problems I’ve been digging into my webcam settings and have discovered the subject problem.

I don’t have an actual webcam but am using one of my Arlo security cameras. I have a script periodically capture a .jpg file and store it on my weather PC. WD then processes the image reducing it in size and adding the labeling, saving it in a local .gif file. WU was happy enough to display this .gif, when it felt like it.

With the WU redesign, webcam link can only end in .jpg. Since WD can also generate a matching .jpg file, I turned that option on. Unfortunately the labeling on the image is very fuzzy. See attached. How can I get clearer labels on the .jpg?

where and how exactly do you have that setup in WD?
mine is ok:

using the wdwebcamcapture.exe program

Control Panel > Webcam Image > Setup Image settings for other…

you could try setting up to use the wdwebcamcpature program instead, and set that to use a static file name source
and then set that up to do the overlay
but also though try changing the font and font colour?
