WDL users, it is time to move to HTML5

WDL will still work until end of 2020 though when Flash is no longer supported. Shockwave is different to Flash.

Shameful. I still use WDL as a display in my classroom.

Puffin browser supports flash on my phone.

still…it is time…

Looks like Chrome sealed it fate. I cannot get any WDL to load on my home laptop.

Still mad

In Chrome, click on the padlock symbol to the left of the URL, go to site settings and “allow” Flash.

If anyone knows how to get WDL in Microsoft Edge (Win 10 version 1809) please let me know!

That only works for the current Chrome session.

Save this code to a .reg file, then double click the file and ‘Merge’ it when asked:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome]
"DefaultPluginsSetting"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome\PluginsAllowedForUrls]
"1"="http://*"
"2"="https://*"

Can you do the same for Edge? (See my modified post above!)

You can try. It won’t harm anything. I’m on Windows 7 - highest I plan to go :smiley:

I am not specifically answering the question; however, to enable Flash in Edge…
On your computer, open Microsoft Edge.
On the top right-hand corner, click the icon.
Click Settings near the bottom of the menu that appears.
Click View advanced settings under the Advanced Settings header.
Toggle Use Adobe Flash Player to On.

I only use this for Stormvue but the roadmap should see the shift to HTML5 .

Tried. Like it has locked me out.

Try right click and run as administrator. I am away from a computer.

See here

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/deploy/group-policies/adobe-settings-gp

chrome will not let me see/run the security cam on Xfinity home.

wants me to right click. I do, nothing.

Doesn’t work in Win 10 version 1809 - hence my question.

I have just tested on Win 10 version 1809 and it worked for me. So we have either a different setting or configuration… What is your account set up as? Administrator or normal user?

Just did a quick youtube upload no voice over see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sg19R3A3WeI

Thanks, I’ll watch that tomorrow.

As I said, what’s shown in your video doesn’t work here. Flash is already turned on in Edge, and the Adobe Flash page basically says “Flash is included with Edge but it has been disabled on your machine.” Unfortunately, none of their suggestions for enabling it actually work.

Guess Edge needs a registry tweak like the one for Chrome, above.

Update: tried editing Group Policy and Registry with various suggestions from the web, but nothing works so far. . . :frowning:

Don’t run Chrome or Edge, use Firefox, I occasionally have to tell it to allow a page to run flash after it warns me it could be dangerous. There is a battle calculator site for one of my games that runs flash.

I got an email from google console yesterday that one of my pages was not Mobil ready because it had flash on it and the text was too small. i had missed some WU rapid fire code I thought I had all removed and tweaked the text size from 16px to 18 px and now it validates.

Might have missed a post elsewhere about this, but I’ve only just discovered that Edge in Win 10 version 1809 allows Flash for “secure” (https) sites, although you have to OK it each time. My WDL is http. . . (as URL under avatar, delete pws/index.php).

If you are using win 10’s native email client with an ms exchange server, it takes over a lot of group settings and the user can’t change them. I quit using the native email and only use outlook now, purging the exchange account from “accounts” in settings. User control is back.
