Vantage Vue Fast blinking Led | Transmitter problem?

About ten days ago my ISS lost connection with the console at 05:09 AM.
Console was showing a lot of dashes and the antenna icon did not show flashing waves.
I have had no Low Battery warnings.
Upon checking the battery, I found the spring that holds the battery, showing quite a bit of corrosion/rust.
Because of that, the battery showed corrosion/rust also.(See pictures)
I cleaned the spring by using sandpaper and replaced the battery for a new one.
Was the connection lost by this?
The old battery still showed 3V and like I said I had no Low Battery warning

The weatherstation is working again, at least that was what I was thinking.

A couple of days ago when it was dark I noticed the ISS green led flashing very fast.
I had not paid attention it going out after a few blinks  when changing the battery, apparently it didn’t.
Google learned me that I may have a transmitter problem.

Last night we got some rain but the console/ISS did not register 2.0mm (0.0mm)
Everything else seem to be working fine.

Is this just a coincidence or are these problems (led fast flashing and not registering rain) related.
What you guys think, anyone had a similar problem

A new transmitterset will cost me 215 euros, a complete new ISS without the console 259 euros.
I want the weatherstation to be reliable.
Just in case I ordered a new ISS being the better deal, I can always use the spareparts.
