Icon from Metar

Probably unrelated, but metars stopped being downloaded after 1350 UTC today. The tafs are still coming in, showing that the download procedure is still working. Metars are still available from the NOAA website so its not clear what the problem is.

Exactly the same here. (Coincidentally, I updated to 10.37S90 this morning, but that’s obviously not the reason!)

you can check yourself
the WD metar download program has not changed

NOAA have changed something - metardownloadlog says “object moved” - perhaps it should now be secure (https) Brian?

it looks like a change by noaa then
(nothing I have changed)
the url to get the metar might have changed or similar

actually if you put the url into a web browser it changes to https
so that is probably all the change that is needed by me to make

let me try that

http://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/cronmetardownload.zip
vers 2.0

All good again - thanks Brian - up to date - also get the TAF downloaded too now.

Yes, thanks Brian!

Thanks all for publizing the problem, sourcing the fault and fixing so promptly. Hopefully this will draw a line under this particular topic !

Brian, not working for me. LDZD.TXT or LDSP.TXT. Croatian airports…what is problem?

its not clear if you have updated to use the latest cronmetardownload.exe version
(that is only used if you have set to use http download in the metar download setup)

I have latest update and cronmetardownload.exe 2.0, but it not working. Metar folder is empty.

i have tested downloading that metar here and it works

what shows in your metardownloadog.txt ?

what windows version are you using?

WINXP on mini PC Alix 1D. DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

metardownloadlog.txt (2.46 KB)

the https http download is not compatible with windows XP

276: error during handshake[2]: 0x80090326

you will need to tick to use ftp download

Thanks Brian! ftp download working and I have METAR data now.

surprised people still using XP
which no longer has updates for security etc

I know, but Alix mini PC is very weak hardware for any newer OS. Instalation any Linux distribution is problem too. Maybe you could do something like rasberry PI and WD console for Alix?
Rasberry PI and WD console do not support my weather station WeatherHawk 240SS, unfortunately…

windows 10 runs OK on my low spec net book
(just make sure you have enough ram)

Alix 1D, 600mhz AMD Geode cpu, 256mb RAM, CF card 4gb…
