*** closed*** HWS Template (WD34) Wish List

Wim,
Could you look at the possibility of updating Brian’s old WD/WXSIM release. I am still using it with success but the main module (excluding forecast) has not been updated since its last release of approximately one year ago. If you need the files I would be glad to send them to you.
http://s-p.me/wxsim/index.php

Can you identify a source for that?

maybe here

https://open.canada.ca/data/en/dataset/493966f9-f683-4e56-8fa6-8799999c00bd

I can not upgrade the complete release. I started with the 2017 WD version.
But I can integrate the WXSIM block in the forthcoming release. I was not aware that there was a wxsim-forecast block from weather34.
I know there are individual users who made one. This one seems to use the plaintext parser from Ken True / Saratoga.
Can you make a zip, preferably from the complete folder.

Wim

As my native language is not English, maybe the links to the warning/forecast-data got lost in the translation.

This is an example of the data source I am now using for Canadian users of the Leuven-Template.
https://dd.meteo.gc.ca/citypage_weather/xml/ON/s0000646_e.xml
It contains a detailed hourly forecast, daily text forecast, almanac data, current conditions and warnings, no API-key needed.
This data is available in English and in French, I think for most of Canada.
You can check the 3 demo forecast-pages using this data at https://www.weerstation-herent.be/wsfct4/
When there are no warnings for the demo area, they are not shown.

I do not know if the data is reliable, as there is only 1 Leuven-Template user from Canada

If this xml contains correct data it can be used in the HWS-template for WD also, if there are multiple users interested in it.
It will not make it to the top of the wish-list if only one station wants to use it,

Wim

Wim, so far, other than myself, two other users (lgRich, blainec) have asked for weather alerts/warnings for Canada.

But still, it should not be on the top of your wish-list … maybe at the third or fourth position…

As you can see, there is currently 1 script for: all graphs WU + SQL && temp + baro + a.s.o.
The three AQ scripts will also grow into 1 script.
I will try to create one warning script for EU , NWS and EC
The more users for 1 script, the more change we have to iron out the bugs.
Wim

Wow, Am I the only station in Canada that has the template ? ( https://weatheryyc.com/weather28 )

The data comes from a reliable source (environment canada)

The 3 weather-warnings for the April release are more or less finished. They are tested at the demo site
For Europe the Meteoalarm.eu page is scraped as there is still no complete RSS-type feed.
For Canada the Environment Canada city forecast is used as it includes the warnings and we can reuse the forecast data later.
For the US the complete set of Curly scripts is used AS-IS. No modifications needed. Just install and configure if you are not already using those scripts.

The small alert-box on the right of the HWS-Template will turn to the color of the warning and either display a small warning text or “multiple warnings active”. Plus a link to the detail page.

Nice. Can’t wait to add this one

I really like the w34 template and aside from weather statements/watches/warnings being highlighted on the page with a link to the actual text, I can’t think of anything missing right now. I like the small, compact nature of the page with everything visible and updating on the fly. Simple and elegant and all weather…thanks for your work on this project Wim.

Another vote for having a snow total block. Thanks

I am not sure if there will many other users wanting this, so i understand if it doesn’t make it in, but a weather alert/warning for Australia?

Possible source could be,

http://www.bom.gov.au/rss/?ref=ftr

A reflection:
Is there at least one website in Australia which uses these scripts as its prime website?

You yourself have a Saratoga website http://www.micklehamweather.com/ as your prime site.
All visitors arrive there. It has a link with flashing

Hi Wim,

Just wondering, what is the advantage of using and old version and not using the new “HWS-template for WD”-version which urgently needs users to test and report errors?

Without an active user-base any script, so also this version will fail to survive.

The link to the older version has been there for a quite a while (maybe a year or so), so it is not technically ‘new’!

To be honest with you I didn’t think to update the link to the new WD version (just forgot about it really) - I will look to do this hopefully later tonight.

Neil

The Demo site now reflects a Canadian user. I try to test the new EC alert- and forecast-scripts.
The EC scripts display the original forecast data in French and English only. All visitors which choose another language, will see the English version.
I did not include the language translation on purpose for now as I can not find the documentation of all texts used. English forecast:

Tonight
Cloudy. 40 percent chance of flurries early this evening. Clearing near midnight. Wind becoming northwest 20 km/h early this evening. Low minus 31. Wind chill minus 30 in the evening and minus 43 overnight. Risk of frostbite.
Monday
Mainly cloudy. 40 percent chance of flurries in the afternoon. Wind up to 15 km/h. High minus 23. Wind chill minus 43 in the morning and minus 31 in the afternoon. Risk of frostbite. UV index 1 or low.
French version[quote]Aujourd’hui
Neige intermittente cessant en mi-journ

Trivial point, but typo in Alert window: “Envirinment Canada” - should read “Environment Canada”.
