NWS NOWdata

With the Weather Underground API going away soon, it looks like the the NWS service has something called NOWdata. It has the same data for records as WU had. And then some.

If there was some way to tap into the data, I’d like to see if we could get this data in particular.
Day - Record hi, record hi data, Record low, record low date
Rain - Normal rain for month, Normal rain YTD.

Here is the data link to Bismarck, ND https://w2.weather.gov/climate/xmacis.php?wfo=bis

there is information now available on the replacement WU api
e.g

I think that the history all should give the all time records for the station?

the current 5 day forecast will also be affected that WD provides in the WU alamac too
this is the replacement:

I personally am just interested in the actual NWS official records, and normal rain amounts. Not for my station.

If WU is documenting an API key, that likely means I’d have to buy one. Which I won’t…

yeah, the current api key will not work by the sounds of it
it sounds like though a PWS owner sending data to WU will be able to get a new key for low daily call rates for free
otherwise a commercial key will cost hundreds of dollars a month

that NWS data is in graphical graph form though…no actual text numbers

basicly yes sometime in January the WU Alamanac in WD will stop working :frowning:

According to the WU forum “For PWS uploaders, the Weather Underground API will not close down on December 31.”

But nothing yet about what happens going forward. . .

that is why I said some time in January it will stop working

I visited a page a couple weeks ago and found nws maps, animated. Sorry forgot where…
