WD Keeps Crashing...
« on: October 24, 2018, 10:01:23 PM »
Since 10/12/2018, WD keeps crashing. All Windows says it that WD has stopped working and couldnít find a solution and only gives me the option to close the program. I thought it was my computer so I got another one and installed a fresh and latest copy of WD...I restored all data and the same thing is happening. It seems that itís when WD tries to update web files and the internet... any ideas?

Nothing shows in my event log. Every 5 minutes this is what WD does

what do you have set to update every 5 minutes?
see if you can isolate it

I have quite a few things. AWEKAS, WU, Anywheather, meteotemplate, plus file creations under web files #1 and #2, plus a few more.

The interesting thing is not all of my settings restored now that Iím looking through settings. Some services arenít even turned on. Iím starting to wonder if something is corrupted.

I have shutoff everything I can think of, no file creations are turned on, main internet switch is off.

Still crashing on the 5ís

if you could email me your settings files I will see if I can duplicate a problem here
it might be a corrupt file or similar
e.g in the datafiles or webfiles folder
(try renaming those folder when WD is not running, then start up WD...as a test)

I will do all of this shortly

Iím sorry I havenít sent you my config file, but just to update, I at least renamed both folders you mentioned and it seems like WD has stabilized. However it seems itís still not FTPíing my files, and real-time updates arenít so real-time. Also it doesnít seem like itís updating any of the services I send data to. All services are on in their own settings and the main internet switch is on. I also seem to be missing the testtags.txt file but WD is set to create them and doesnít seem to be doing so.

if you renamed the webfiles folder
and so a new one was created
then that would be empty
i.e it would not have the needed testtags.txt file in it, etc

you should have the default one where WD is installed to (e.g c:\wdisplay\ )

Got it. Here is my config file. so since WD isn't crashing now, how do I figure out what the problem was? or how do I get all my previous data back?

you should never post your settings files on a public server
I would delete that

re the next Q
you could add back files from the original webfiles folder until you find the culprit
