advice please on replacing WM-918

Ok thanks

Brian, it does look good. Is there a way to select a date range as I have 16 years of data! Otherwise the only option seems to print each month at a time?

For info, here is what I did from the csv files.

I used the 2011 file as later was above your file limit.

WD2011.TXT (329 KB)

date range as in ?

Hi Brian, date range as in from dd/mm/yyyy to do/mm/yyy rather than just a month of a year

I dont have that ability

have you seen meteotemplate.com ?
its based on mysql data
and it has lots of climate reports

https://www.weather-display.org/template/indexDesktop.php

that looks good, thanks

Hi Brian,

Ive been looking at these 2 weather stations.

https://www.ambientweather.com/amws2902.html

&

https://www.acurite.com/pro-weather-station-with-pro-plus-5-in-1-sensor-pc-connect-wind-and-rain.html

according to your compatibility list they seem OK Is that correct?

cheers

the ambient one is compatible (via the ambient server api, as long as you can get signed up OK, then good to go)

OK Thanks , is there one that would work straight out of the box that you could recommend , without any other parties involved?

that is becoming harder and harder to find
I use a Davis station myself. You will not regret that

any particular model?

Been happy with my Davis Vantage pro plus, I had a Oregon wmr which did not fare well in Phoenix sun, had to replace the batteries in the senors every year or less, the cheap plastic rain gauge started falling apart in the sun.

Davis stuff seems very exxy.

Any one had any luck with Jaycar stuff?

you get what you pay for
my brother got one of those but its failing after only a few years

yeah, youre probably right

Now looking at OS gear (since my WM918 lasted nearly 20 yrs) . I note that the latest station the WMR89 is much cheaper than the previous one WMR300. Is it better value for money or just a cheaper unit?

One another matter , what are peoples thoughts on stations that have the components all in one unit as opposed to indivudual parts?

cheers

The problem with all-in-one stations is that you are forced to either have the temp/hum/rain part mounted way too high or the anemometer mounted way too low.

Hello Brian,

I bought a wmr89 & it seems to be running OK. One observation though is that there seems to be a fair time lag between what happens on the instruments to when it shows on WD. Is there a delay in the data transmission from the console to WD? My old wm918 seemed much quicker with readings.

the problem is to do with the update rate to the pc
which is not as fast as it was with with the wmr918

are other brands as bad? or was the legendary wm918 the trendsetter here?
