Weather station Maintance

Got a email from CocoRaHS yesterday suggesting cleaning debris and dust out of my rain gauge in preparation for rain from Hurricane Rosa. Cooled off to the mid 80’s this afternoon with a breeze. Went out took the rain gauges apart and cleaned them, the cone on the Davis was rather stubborn about coming off… The upper tip cup was full of dirt and gunk, carefully cleaned it with out tipping it. Also hosed the dirt out of the heat shield.

Few months ago I bought a bunch of cement blocks because the space between the patio and rain gauge is a muddy mess after rain and did not want to go out and look at the CocoRaHS guage because of it. They have been sitting on my patio since because summer in Phoenix doesn’t encourage heavy outside work. Decided today was the day because it soon would be a muddy mess again so I scraped it more or less flat with a scoop shovel and put them down. Clay soil is hard when dry and slick when wet…
