Gearing Up for Hurricane Olivia

Hi all,

Another round of hurricane preparedness for me again. Or I should say, “Here we go again?”

Attached is the current projected path.

it is expected to be weakening by the time it gets to you
it must be a bit unusual to be getting so many?

Not again…

Hi All,

Update for this Hurricane. Looks like it will go between Maui and the Island of Hawaii at about 2 AM HST on Wednesday.

Not looking good. We are now in a tropical storm watch. Will probably change as this storm nears.

See attached and compare it from the precious post.

My sister is currently over there (Honolulu) on holiday

Looks like they going to get really wet over there. I hope your sister makes it through okay or leaves before it hits.

Olivia is expected to produce total rainfall accumulations of 254 to 381 mm (10 to 15 inches). However, isolated maximum amounts of 508 mm (20 inches) are possible, especially over windward sides of Maui and the Big Island. This rainfall may produce life-threatening flash flooding.

rain and wind she is used to, we get that here all the time

I also have family members temporarily in Oahu, they are on the 27th floor of the hotel 8O

my sister said its great weather at the moment, one day out (but you get that prior to hurricane as it tends to have descending air around it)
looks like they will get gales in Honolulu

According to the latest advisory from NWS, except for the wind, it doesn’t look like it will be that bad. Keep your fingers crossed. This is just for Oahu South Shore.

Hi All,

All is well at my location after the passing of Olivia. Other places on Maui was not so lucky. Much flooding on the Western part of Maui. A few house was swept of their foundation. There were some power outages. I was out for about 6 hours and I had to break out my emergency generator so that I could use my Ham radio station to relay messages from our local EMA to the States EMA.

Now, to see how Florence’s event will recover from this.

Also, the Cyclone in the Philipines progress.

Many storms all over.
