WXSIM 218 Build 1.1

Hi Everybody,

I think I’ve got all the bog fix/suggestion stuff addressed in this new version. I haven’t announced it on the web site (which should now be all fixed, clean and more secure now!!), but want to put it out there to try, and this one IS wrapped in an installer. Let me know how it goes!

Here’s what changed since the last installer (Build 1.0):

Hi Tom,

Sorry to hear about the Website Hack (not good) there are some real low life people in this world.

Thank you for the update : I have installed and tested on my Test PC and all fine.

However I will not be installing on my production PC as I have not yet scripted around the extra fields and (2) extra blank lines in “latest.csv” (else my scripts and MySql DB will crash).

As I mentioned here : http://discourse.weather-watch.com/p/518686 Is there any way to remove the extra blank rows.

Also Wim will need to adjust his scripts if the extra rows remain : http://discourse.weather-watch.com/p/518722

Kind regards,

@Tom Ehrensperger
There are two blank lines introduced in the latest.csv. See the discussions in your thread
http://discourse.weather-watch.com
example of the blank lines at: WXSIM 2018 Released! - #26 by hrvistaweather - WxSim - Weather-Watch.com

These blank lines will break the scripts which use latest.csv as the scripts expects the field-names in the first row and the corresponding unit of measurement in the second row.

I advised my users who’s script failed, to either use the official 2018 release from your website (which is OK) or use lastret.txt when using this test-version or the previous test-version.
My scripts can process either file, but the users will loose functionality when they switch from latest.csv to lastret.txt as lastret.txt contains less fields to process.

In the past 6 years there are multiple different script-versions processing latest.csv, no way anyone can find or warn the users with all their different native languages. So when they update WXSIM the latest.csv should be usable by them also.

Wim

I can confirm my scripts did not work after updating. I want back to the older version and they are working again.

Tom,

I also agree with Steve’s comment, that

I noticed that on the WRET screen, the 2 occurrences of the “maximum of 15 items” areas did not change to “20”. They both still show as “15”.

Will you please update this to “20” in the WRET screen?

Thanks much.

Working on fixes. Should have a new version up shortly. Thanks!

OK, I think I’ve got the blank lines in latest.csv problem fixed. I also made one other change, asked for by exactly one user - ever: the printout options (none, short form, long form, and graph and summaries) is now saved on exit, hopefully without breaking anything else!

Let me know how this goes! If it checks out OK, I think one will be “official”!

Thanks!

Tom

Hi Tom,

Thank you greatly appreciated.

Installed new Upgrade and did a run on my test PC, all ran perfect and I confirm the blank lines in latest.csv problem fixed, now displays as original (just the (2) Header Lines and blanks gone.

Update : Completed my script mods and mysql changes, now running new version on main production PC, all good.

Kind regards,

Tom,

Got the latest revision installed and everything ran correctly. Checked latest.csv and the extra lines are gone. Also, the “15 maximum checkboxes” has been changed to “20” in both places in WRET.

Thanks for your work.

Steve

Tom,

Looking good! Thank you. :D/

Thanks for the feedback! You can consider this release “official”!

Also, thanks for hanging around on the forum while I was quiet for a while. I had a bunch going on, most of it good, as we had our daughter and two granddaughters (and our son-in-law part of the time) visiting from California for over a month this summer, and then wanted to get out of town ourselves!

Anyway, I’m glad to have a new version out, and kind of excited about the new features. Thanks, as always, for your support!

Tom

Have updatet yesterday.
Looks good and run fine

Well, still made a couple of very small changes - just to the format of the latestsolardaily.csv file (if you’re customized for solar panels). This won’t affect anyone else. Also, I added a description of the solar panel algorithm and output on pages 76-79 in manual.doc. This might be interesting reading, especially if you do have (or are thinking of getting) solar panels.

The installer for the new version (for upgrade) is, as usual, at

www.wxsim.com/wxsimupg.exe

I do have a question: is anyone writing (or interested in writing) PHP (or other) scripts for the solar panel output? If so, I’ll of course be glad to share samples and discussion of format, etc.

Thanks, and let me know how it goes! I’ll probably update the web page itself sometime this week.

Tom

Working well here - thanks Tom

Cheers
