Synology NAS Setup

The more I look into it, the more I realize that my Synology NAS is suited for getting my weather website back up and running.
Looks like I can use my registered domain name as well. Has anyone here attempted to use their NAS in such a way?
Here’s the link:

Not sure why you’d need to run your own DNS server tbh. Just add the www.yourdomain.tla to the DNS records of your domain registrar.

My web sites are running on a raspberry Pi via my ADSL link - so same setup, just different hardware.

I’m talking about using my NAS as my web host. Maybe I didn’t make that clear.

The app note you linked describes how to run a DNS server hence the confusion. Here’s one about running a web server https://www.synology.com/en-us/knowledgebase/DSM/tutorial/Application/How_to_host_a_website_on_Synology_NAS . Personally I wouldn’t feel comfortable opening my home network up to the world but others don’t share my reservations.

Does your IP allow you to run a web server on your connection?

Does your ISP give you a fixed IP address? If not you’ll need to sign up with a dynamic DNS service like https://www.noip.com/ to link your domain name to your dynamic IP address.

Thanks for that info. It might be easier (and safer) just to subscribe to a web host.
