Weather Display to export data.csv = no VitualVP

Just a thought but maybe a useful feature for a lot of us…

Weather Display exports a csv file every minute that could be used by VWS in station-less mode so people could run VWS and WD at the same time without the need for VirtualVP?

I have used VWS as long as WD and still use Image salsa that uses VWS. Also, due to VirtualVP being forgotten, VWS disconnects for me daily from VirtualVP. that is the reason to try to find a solution to syop using VirtualVP. I know some people may say why would WD developer even consider this? don’t know why, can’t answer that . But imagine a “publication” option in the control panel that one could easily enable this?

I was able to create a file with current WD tags but hit a road block with how some data is formatted by WD and is not usable in VWS. For example, the month of June is “6” in VWS and “06” in WD. see the two examples below…

csv file created with WD tags:
1.01,2018,06,10,14,45,01,7.7,7.0,296,28,13,84.3,100.0,29.667,2.19,0.00,0.00,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0.26,0,881,100.0,0,95,40,0.000,+2.4,0,-0.023,0,0,0,0.00,2.19

VWS generated data.csv:
1.01,2018,6,10,14,44,0,6,7,269,28,13,84,100,29.67,2.19,0.00,0.00,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0.26,0,881,100,82,95,40,0.00,2,1,-0.02,0,0,0,0.00,1.31

sure, I can add that easy enough
I just need to know the format (link?)

Wow, that would be great! The format is listing in the manual with is a local PDF. I can’t find a copy online to link to. Here are screen shots of the details. I’ve also list the file VWS creates so you know what format the data is in.

VWS daily.csv:
1.01,2018,6,10,14,44,0,6,7,269,28,13,84,100,29.67,2.19,0.00,0.00,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0.26,0,881,100,82,95,40,0.00,2,1,-0.02,0,0,0,0.00,1.31

I will work on this tomorrow

what update rate is needed?

actually WD already has this ability
see under setup, advanced/misc
tick to create a VWS data.csv file

Wow, some how missed that option! That’s great its already in WD! thanks

But I do have the month and year rain option checked and WD doesn’t seem to include it. VWS’s data.csv file has 41 fields and the WD generated has 39! I wonder if this will matter? But VWS will expect Yearly Rain in field 41.
Can you investigate that? thanks for your time with this!

Attached is a file with a “top-bottom” copy of both files if that helps:

wdvws-csvfile.txt (392 Bytes)

Sorry, mistake in previous post… there is an option to include month and year rain!

(corrected original post)

Hi
use this new update
http://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/weatherdisplaytest.zip

Thank you, I have it running and VWS seems to like it! I will try for a few days and let you know.

Just to report back… I have had this configuration running for more than 3 days now and it is working well. I had to reset VWS rain total after the change to Stationless. But yea I’m glad to finally not have to rely on VirtualVP.

Thanks Brian!!! Your help and continuous development on Weather Display is very much appreciated!!!

someone else was needing this, but it looks like I need to add the same to end of the data2.csv file, yes?

Well for the “Stationless” setting it only requires one file. If I remember the data.csv is the native units and the data2.csv is for converted units. I could be incorrect on this.

FWIW here is the VWS manual: http://site.ambientweatherstore.com/vws/vwsmanual.PDF

its used for image salsa
i have added that missing data now to the latest update

Rapt I got VWS going using WD. Now just wainting to see if the rain works ok

Hello:

I use virtual vp with wd and vws and I would like know if I can connect vws to receive data of weatherdisplay and the I can upgrade the vantage pro 2 firmware 3.00 and not the actual 1.90.

Can I make this of this topic? csv file.

Thanks.

you can set WD to create the VWS CSV data files
see in the misc setup to set that (Program tab, half way down)

Weatherdisplay creates data.csv, data2.csv and daily.csv but which I must choose for vws?

I can’t help you with that sorry but maybe someone else can or maybe google it?

Thanks at all and Brian.
