Weather API's
« on: May 24, 2018, 01:00:37 AM »
So Weather Underground is cutting off free access to the API's, including those that submit data from their PWS.  What would it take to add a feature to WD to be able to pull that API data, or does it already exist?  At the moment, it's just an irritation that WU has decided to do this.  But I was planning this year to start adding some smart home features to the house, starting with the intelligent thermostats.  One that I was looking at (Nest maybe) could use the API from WU for my PWS.  Now that's no longer the case.  I'm not sure how much smart home "stuff" would use this.  Right now my Alexa does, but that's about it.  So I'm just posting this for some thought and conversation.  If it's it worth the time and effort to add this feature?

WD already uses (paid) WU API to get data
Also WD support the NEST thermostat
