Support for the Lufft R2S sensor

Hi Brian,

Is it possible to have WD read the Lufft R2S sensor?
It will be connected to the Campbell datalogger.
It has a resolution of 0,01 mm and a value which shows the precipitation type in the form of a number, corresponding Rain, snow, sleet, freezing rain, hail etc.
It will replace my (broken) 0,2mm tipping bucket sensor.

ideally need a lot more information about the data format etc

Thanks alot for the fast reply, much appreciated.

I basically use for the new sensor the same connection on my datalogger to measure the amount of rain where the old tipping bucket was connected, so that doesnt change.

But the amount is recorded in 0,01mm, so thats different to the old situation and would be great if WD can show that.
And it records the precipitation type.
That wire is connected to another pulse port on my datalogger and reads the frequency.
The output is just a number.
Heres the precipitation type, the name correspond to a number:
Dry= 0
Rain= 10
Snow= 20
Sleet= 30
Freezing Rain= 40
Hail= 50

So ideally there is an extra datafield added to the datafield/cronpakbusnew i think, to show the precipitation type name?

I dont know if the precipitation type can be graphed or use a colour in the precipitation graph, like blue is rain, red is hail or otherwise…?

Hi Brian,

Do you need some more info or something i can help you with?

OK, so what I need to do is to be able to show extra resolution for the rain (that is no problem to do)
is the rain type a different data position?
or?
that is the info I need…the exact details about the rain type (e.g example)

Hi,

Yes youre right Brian, the precipitation type is a different/extra dataposition.
The data from it is just a number, like i mentioned above.
And the number correspond with the precepitation type.
E.g. when its raining, the datafield is showing a 10, 20 for snow etc,thats basically it.
And that number needs to be linked to the text “rain” or “snow” etc within WD.

HI
ok, yes, WD could use that condition to set set the current condition (and custom tag for that) or even the current icon
yes?

question
are you using the cronpakbus setup?
or using the setup where you set the data position in the input file

Hi,

Yes, im using the data position input and cronpakbusnew is constantly running.
Or is it more easy for you to have WD running with loggernet so loggernet updates the. Dat file which WD use for the (realtime) data?

Hi
post a screen shot of how you have it setup in WD

Here are the screenshots. :smiley:

setup2.jpg

try
http://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/weatherdisplaytest.zip
(unzip/extract to where you have WD installed when WD is not running)
and then set the new rain type data position
and then see what shows under view, debug info

no gaurantees will work

Hi,

What data position should i use for the precipitation type?
And where can i see it on the mainscreen?

The dataposition, is it the position in the data string?

are you using the file setup?
it looked like you are in the settings
and so that new data will be a data position in the file
you should then see the raw data under view, debug info
but it depends on how you have WD set up
it looks like you have it setup more than one way
you mention you have the cronpakbusnew program running?

Hi,

What do you mean with the “file setup” ?
Yes cronpakbusnew is running as soon as i start WD and i can see its updating the data every second.
But is it more easy for you if WD is running along with loggernet which currently is recording precipitation and precipitation type fine ?

So if you stop cronpakbusnew.exe,does the data stop
Updating in WD?
What shows under view, debug info

Hi Brian,

Yes youre right, as soon as i stop cronpakbusnew, the data on the mainscreen WD stops updating.
Will have a look what shows under view, debug info when i have the time :smiley:

Hi Brian,

Ill have a look in the debug code.
And id like to thank you for taking the effort trying to get it working, much appreciated :+1:

ive made some screenshots.
as you can see i cant find the precipitation type in the debug code and in de campbell setup, the first and second picture.
And the datafield numbers im not sure if these are correct, third picture.

I will have to add the data to the cronpakbusnew program
as it looks like you are using that method
what shows in that running program ?

Hi,

Is there a more easy method for you?

Below is my cronpakbusnew screen…
