webcam not working

Hi, my PC did an update to windows 10 version 1803 today, but now the webcam will not work. The webcam is a Logitech pro 9000 & has been working fine for 2 years, see up loads for more details. I have also down loaded the latest version of WD S71 was running S69.

many thanks.

there has been no change to the wdwebcamcapture.exe in a long time
so upgrading WD will not get you any change to that program

I am still on 1709 windows 10 version

I am not sure why the latest windows 10 update would affect your web cam

have you tried un plugging and re plugging in the usb to reset the driver or similar
(and check what driver windows has assigned to that usb port…I think you are going to have to do some investigating on your end )

It’s not WD it’s the update that has screwed it up, the webcam works on my windows 7 PC fine, some time today while I was looking for the problem windows said that the webcam was to old to work with USB 3, that’s very funny as it has been working just fine for about 2 years until today, any way I will have another go tomorrow.

It was the the new 1803 update that caused the problem, here is how to fix it,

Step 1. Click on Start, and tap Settings from the Start screen

Step 2. Select Privacy from the Settings window

Step 3. Select Camera from the left pane

Step 4. Turn on the Let apps use my camera setting

Step 5. In the Choose apps that can use your camera list, turn on the camera for all applications that need access to your camera

I found it here
