Vantage 2 Pro Wireless erratic high wind readings

My VP 2 Pro Wireless will at times output hurricane level wind speeds even if it is no wind outside.

I started our weather station some ten years ago with VP2 Wireless/WD. After a few years the high wind speed (50 m/s /~100 knots) phenomena started showing up. The only common factor I was been able to observe was the humidity was very high. It was fog, drizzle or rain when this happened. There could be months of correct readings even with high humidity conditions, then suddenly a burst of high wind readings.

I have since chucked away the VP2 and acquired a new one. The sensors and console were relocated, now being 15 meters (approx 40 - 50 feet) apart. Even changed display SW.
Now the hurricane readings are back again! It drives me nuts!

Any takers on this one?

it might be a ground loop problem

you could try grounding the mast?

On my first location the VP2 was mounted on a steel mast bolted to a concrete pontoon in a marina.

On my second loaction the same steel mast is mounted to wall on a wood framed/sided house.

I will add a grounding wire to the mast to see if this helps.
