WeatherFlow stations starting to ship

I note someone on the Weatherflow forum mention that the Ambient shield is not working out too well:

I have a Weatherflow on order and have been looking at the DIY options.

Interesting ideas here for Wooden units:

and I also found this which might work ok:

I doubt I would have an easier time buying a similarly bulky item from Europe…

That’s bad news :frowning:

Maybe it’s too snuggly, not enough room for circulation inside the screen? Internal size 2.5 x 4.3 x 7.4 inches - how big is the AIR?

Think it is about 6 inches tall and has a max diameter of around 3 inches.

Yes sounds too snug, touching the ‘fins’ etc

I’m surprised that there is little available between these cheapo stacked saucer types and a true Stevenson screen. I’m sure there must be a world market for a robust moulded device in white UPVC, probably stacked and clicking together (no long threaded rods), with dual louvres and enough space for all types of sensor, say internal 8x8x25 to 10x10x30 cm (room without touching sides). that looks good
using existing off the shelf plastic vents like that is a good idea

Brian, I’ve been trying to get my lightning to show up on the main screen graph but have not been able to find the right combination of settings to get it to show up. The counter is working on the main screen but not showing on the graph. What exactly needs to be set for it to show up.

oh
I will check that out…

we happen to have a thunderstorm here
and its working OK , for plotting on the main screen graph (wind direction graph)
what options do you have set ?

I’ve tried toggling the Plot on Main Screen and that didn’t seem to help.

hummm
can you post a screen shot of your main screen graph?

You can see them here

http://nfmweather.com/weather2/wxgraphs.php

you can see it OK on the month to date graph
one issue is the scale
i.e the data does not show up very well
it was designed for the 1 wire counter, which did not filter out strikes
the latest update of WD, the max graph scale setting in the 1 wire screen, option where you tick to graph the counts, now works on the main screen graphs as well as the real time graph
i.e so you can set the max scale lower now

I still can’t see it on the month scale but I believe you  I have updated to the latest version and set the max scale to 10. Will see if it shows up with the next storm. Thanks!

actually that scale change is only for the main screen graph
the web graphs I need to make that code change too
I will do that next update

(if you right mouse click on the main screen graph and select month to date graph, see if you can see the strikes better now)

OK, I see it now. The red color made it hard to see so I changed it to white. Might show up better along with the change in the scale. Thanks!

the latest .zip update has that scale change working now for the web graphs too (hopefully)

Just got this notification (not that it’s any use to me!) if anyone’s interested.
