Hand soldering surface mount parts

This guy does an amazing job with a regular iron 8O

Spectacular!
I watched several videos before working on the Blitzortung stuff. Thank goodness for the science of rexist and flux.

One of them was done by a guy with what seemed to be a binocular arm mounted microscope with some sort of recording camera attached to it. He could zoom in and out, and the resolution was stunning.

Not that I’m going to make movies, but I wonder what type of thing he was using. If one did much soldering it sure would be a handy device to have.

Incredible you can learn so much by watching these videos

Pity it doesn’t specify the solder and flux he used :frowning:

I hand solder all my datalogger boards using a Metcal chisel tip. I have mounted a binocular microscope to a monitor arm for inspection, but i don’t tend to solder using the 'scope.
