I am thinking of upgrading to a Davis Vue or Pro from a Lacrosse ws2310… I have years of data and wondered if the Davis wrote to the same data logs or will a new set be created?
Appreciate any thoughts.

I only want to use WD as I am extremely happy with it. Plus its got all my history 
Its my understanding I do not need weatherlink.

when you set WD to a davis station type, it will continue updating the same log and data files from where it was before with the la crosse station
you do need to get a data logger with a davis station to get data to any software

In regards to the data logger, I was going to get equipment plus the console, which is the data logger?, is it not. It will then be, I hope a case of plugging in USB to console and hopefully minimum downtime. 
you need to add a data logger to the console to get usb connection to the computer and any software
this is hundreds of threads about the need for this
you can even get 3rd party data loggers (i.e a bit cheaper)
