It appears that since December 19th, I’m no longer getting the metar file KIAD.met. (KIAD is my metar airport.) WD is downloading (generating?) the files KIAD.TXT and KIAD.taf and updating KIADlog.met at the scheduled times but not KIAD.met. The last KIAD.met file I have is dated four days ago at 12/19/2017 9:00PM. I think, as a result, the custom tag %weatherreport% that I use is not being updated. I have two copies of WD running on the same computer, one for Vantage Pro2 and one for WeatherFlow. Same 10.37S Build 62. Both have the same issue.
(Note that I have the files downloading to the C:\wdisplay\ directory and not the default C:\wdisplay\metar\ but changing the directory didn’t correct the problem.) One other observation from the log above is that the directory they are being downloaded from the NWS is …/decoded/KIAD but manually opening these files they appear to be coded METARs. Not sure if this is important. Here’s what’s inside the KIAD.TXT and KIAD.taf files:
Does the custom tag %weatherreport% rely on the .MET file or should I be looking at some other reason %weatherreport% is not updating? Let me know if I should provide any further details.
Thanks, Brian. I extracted and tried the updated cronmetardownload.exe file under Build 62 for my WeatherFlow station. When it first attempts to run, I get a Windows 10 message: Windows has Protected your PC… blah, blah, blah. I press Run Anyway. It runs, and it generates a .taf file (It is not a TAF metar and I don’t have that checked) but it didn’t generate the .met file.
In the meantime, for my Vantage Pro2 station, I restored a copy of Build 61 and it works fine there.
I’m not sure how to determine which version I’m running. It only opens for a second (in the tray) when it runs and I can’t grab it to look at it. The metardownloadlog.txt contents is much more extensive than before:

Updated WD to Build 84 and the custom tag %weatherreport% forecasticon.gif that rely on the METAR stopped updating. Same issue as last December. I’m not getting the KIAD.met file, only the KIAD.taf version. (KIAD is the airport metar I’m using.) The metardownloadlog.txt reports version 1.8. This appears okay but the .met file is not generating. Let me know if you need any other info.
it will be changing to https
the new cronmetardownload.exe you have uses that
that was working
but it looks like they might not have that permanent yet…maybe in another week
