Problems with "clientraw.txt" and Windows 10 (Solved)

Following a PC change, I have problems with the “clientraw.txt” file:

http://kocher.es/clientraw.txt

  • It does not appear locally: C\wdisplay\webfiles\
  • It does not appear on the server: http://kocher.es/clientraw.txt
  • There is a file (that is updated), called: “clientrawtemp.txt”

WeatherDisplay Ver 10.37S60

Uncheck the box for “Rename the file as a temporary file (Recommended if your server supports that)”. Your Microsoft IIS server does not support it.

Thank you very much for the reply Niko

The file “clientraw.txt” continues without being created.

I have come to think that it may be influenced by the antivirus program I just installed (Bitdefender)

do you mean its not being created locally?

Greetings Brian

It has not been created locally or uploaded to the web

well it wont get uploaded if it does not get created localy
is WD getting live data from your weather station?
try re selecting the clientraw location in the webfiles setup

also I see you have ticked to create a 2nd clientraw.txt but in the same location
untick that

Okay, I just unchecked it

I discovered that if I create a file called “clientraw.txt” and try to paste it into c:\wdisplay\webfiles\ , a Windows 10 message appears:

Denied access to the folder.
You will need Administrator permissions to copy to this folder

                                          (I'm running WeatherDsiplay as Administrator)

that is likely your problem
a problem with permissions under windows 10 on that folder
you will need to fix that

Problem solved.

I explain it in case it happens to any other:

  • Source of the problem: Security Policy Windows 10

Windows 10 does not allow certain actions, even if the user has Administrator privileges, in case of initiating the session without a password.

  • Solution: Create a Windows startup password for that user

Many thanks to Niko and Brian for their invaluable help
