WD in a virtual box Linux

Has anyone had success with running WD in a windows 7 virtual box on a linux machine.

I’ve downloaded the WD exe file to install, and connected my Davis Vantage Vue to my actual pc, but no data is seen by WD.I do have the required silicon labs drivers installed.
On a windows machine it runs from com port 4, but I’ve tried 1 through to 5 and there’s no connection.

So I guess I am missing something.

I’m late to see this. Yes, I did use WD in a virtualbox (XP, not Win7), ubuntu was host. Make sure you enable the USB to the virtual OS. That was running over few days for a test only.

Thanks for the reply.
So you only tested wd in the Virtual Box, and its’ not running now.

You may have seen that I finally got WD for linux running on my x64 bit ubuntu machine, but was just curious to see if it could be done in a VB.

How do I enable USB to the virtual OS, that being windows 7
