We are not Arizona, but...

Peaked today at 42.5

You’re catching up with us… And that is HOT for an island, even in the Mediterranean…

I’m in the Sonoran Desert, 50 or so miles south of Sky Harbor, Phoenix’s airport. We’re on the cooler side for this time of the year -June / Early July - but cool is relative. Temp ranges from 108F / 42.2C through about 112F / 44.4C. In the last few years we’ve had incredibly hot (123.1F / 50.6C last June) temps, to the point I’d consider 112F / 44.4C almost ‘cool’.

Phoenix Metro is usually warmer than us in the evenings, the heat island effect. We have a little desert micro climate effect - depends on wind mostly.

Wait 'til you’ve sat in the 110+ range for more than just a few days! Not fun. We’ll be back there by next Wed. See http://tiggrweather.net/wxforecast.php and http://tiggrweather.net/wxtempdetail.php, including a 120

Four corners high next week https://twitter.com/RobElvington/status/880676422473441280

Nastiness coming (continuing!). Possible t-storms end of next week which means lightning, which also means dry lightning. We’ve had more than enough wildfires already this season.

We also tied our all time record of 117F this week and tied record of 10 days of 110+, this starting to be a long hot summer. we have had about 85 days with no rain. Humidity is as low as 2%, hope to get some rain soon.

52 days since last rain here. Definitely not looking forward to what’s coming, but - only 83 days until Fall!

Well one thing is for sure, Arizona between Mar-Sep is absolute no-no for me… unless I wanted to comit a suicide

Jachym, we have lots of lakes, rivers, streams, etc., that will keep you cool. Less than 2 hours ‘up the hill’ is Flagstaff which usually runs ~25-30

Worse still, today. On both my weather systems I touched 45.2

It’s the 50% humidity

Yes, but those areas are absolutely fantastic with the scenery and surroundings. A side of AZ that most folks don’t think about or maybe don’t even know about.

And in the midst of all the heat here I had a station record low today - 77.4

I know - not much of a low, but better than 120

Windy, scattered clouds, 23

We need the rain if it really comes (but not the lightning!). At least this is ‘cooler’ than the past few weeks.
