I got a bloom sky statino…via a promotion by the NZ Met Service
any bloomsky users out there…
I am using a Netgear D6200 router
which does have 2.4 and 5g
when trying to setup with the app
even though my phone is connected to the 2.4g connection, when setting up the bloom sky station, it says its not compatible with 5G
I presume that is because the actual bloom sky sensor is trying to connect to 5g, or?
I also note that in the help it says to not use n protocol of the 802.11
the netgear router for modes only has different speeds in the drop down
i have tried the slowest speed
There must be an available 2.4GHz wifi network, the BloomSky device will not connect to a 5GHz network.
Many new routers are pre-set to only broadcast a 5G network, or both 2.4G and 5G networks simultaneously with the same name.
I’ll have to watch out if I change my router. I have to turn the 5G wifi off to avoid conflict with my internet connection which is a 5G link to the top of a mountain.
In the Genie software if you go to ADVANCED tab > Advanced Setup > Wireless Settings are there 2 seperate places to Enable Wireless Router Radio for 2.4G and 5G? If so, uncheck the 5G.
Also for Mode. Up to 130 Mbps is the default and allows 802.11n and 802.11g wireless devices to join
the network. g & b supports up to 54 Mbps. The 300 Mbps setting allows 802.11n devices to
connect at this speed.
ding ding ding
got it to work!
thanks to 19 year old Daughter
the daughter is like Dad, I entered the WIFI password and clicked on next
I am like what next
an iphone has a next button on the keypad!
there was still the message about 5G under where you enter the password though (and no next button on the screen)
I did have to hold down the wireless reset button for 8 seconds on the bloom sky station though…and go through the setup again… standing next to the bloom sky…so that the bue tooth connection worked.to transmit to it the wireless settings
thanks for the hand holding guys
ps, I cant currently log in to the portal to get my API key…is that down?
i just get
Connecting to BloomSky …
I think the issue is I did not charge it with the wall charger
and just put it outside ( it was bright summer sun though)
I dont think the battery got enough charge, as the hum/baro data does not show in the app
the power indicator is not staying green …only flashes on…so thats a low battery
but when I now connect to AC power…the charge indicator is not coming on…
