Hi
Been away for a bit as my Davis ISS sensors failed, but now with a new ISS arrived I’M BACK!!
However, I realize that my repeater seems to now have failed. I really only needed it to boost the signal close to the house as we live in an old house with very thick walls. I can’t afford a replacement repeater at the moment, but I could probably move the console to a position (not where I really want it) that would receive the signal from the ISS without the repeater. The main problem with this is that to get WD up and running I would need a computer close by to take the USB from the console which is not really practical. I do however have an ethernet connection close by.
I can see I have 3 options.
-
Have a PC running WD by the console - as mentioned not really practical
-
Have a console plugged into a Raspberry Pi running WD and then straight into our network and out to the internet - more practical due to the small size of a Pi but would only be able to view on internet and configuration to get it all working would possible be more difficult.

If it is possible and some advice would be good here, can I use a USB to ethernet adapter to plug the console into our network and then “pick up” the USB connection again elsewhere on our network (at my desktop) to feed into WD? I have see these adapters on eBay but can they do what I want them to do or is it technically impossible to do this?? A secondary query on this thread would be are there and USB to USB wireless adapters if I can’t send the data through our network?
