Weathr Report Emails failing at email server

I have updated to latest release, rebooted PC and still can’t send a report email. But a simple test email via Thunderbird goes through just fine.

Server is 1and1.com, and I have port 587 for ssl, as well as account id & pw set up as it has been for years.

Any suggestions?

Do you have windows or linux hosting @ 1 and 1?

Also try the latest ftp program from http://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/ftpupd.zip

I have updated to latest release, rebooted PC and still can't send a report email
its not very clear if that means it was not working, and so you updated WD or it was working , but not now, after updating WD or your email provider, 1&1 , now require secure email server to be in use

does the weather warning email work in WD? (test that)

Reason for update was to see if t Weather reports had been going just fine until Friday morning when suddenly the morning report came through with only headers, and no text; Thursday evening’s report had been just fine. So after some investigation and seeing the error mesages in the log I thought there might be a new security issue I had missed. That caused me to update to release 15 on Saturday. Tonight after no improvement Saturday or today, Sunday, I noticed a new update claiming an FTP fix so pulled that hoping and here we are; still no weather report.

1and1 (home is 1and1.de) has required port 587 and startTLS for years now. No change there.

Something changed somewhere and I do not think it was WD; just thought someone might have an idea I could try.

it sounds like 1&1 has changed things re the sending email (i.e the type of security)
the changes to the FTP program are to enable support for secure FTP, which 1&1 are changing to
there has been no changes to the weather report email send

if you could email me your email settings and I will see if I can get it working

According to online information, 1and1 will allow SFTP for linux servers, and FTPS for windows servers.

this thread is about the weather report email not being sent though, after a change by 1&1
(ie not related directly to the recent changes in the secure FTP)

OK, never mind…

Will do. Actually I do not know if 1and1 DID change but something surely did.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Fred

I notice that using your settings, and the oringal ftpupd.exe version to send the email, it fails too…
so if it used to work, then it means its some change that 1&1 have made

I got it work by setting to use the default port number of 25 instead of 587 that you had set to use

Changing to port 25 didn’t do it. Got following log:

Fred

make sure you have both the secure settings ticked in the weather report email setup
(use auth and ssl)

All as you suggest, with sme result so to be sure I cleared the log, restarted WD

use auth and ssl checked, port 25 and here is result :

that is strange
as it works here
as you using the latest version of WD and the latest ftpupd.exe version?
vers 8.88
http://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/ftpupd.zip

double check the mail server settings again in WD…I could add to the logfile what the mail server its trying to connect to…the error you are getting suggests either you have misconfigured the mail server or your firewall is blocking things or similar

I updated to the current version yesterday also and my email weather report has stopped working I’m running win 10 using goddady and have changed nothing else but to update. I can send email using my email program with the same settings.?? :frowning:

need more information than it just stopped working
i.e what shows in the ftplogfull.txt
what port setting
what server provider, etc
