1 Wire Hub - Suppliers?

Hello,

Does anyone know where I can get 1-Wire Hubs from, now that hobbyboards is gone :frowning:

John

The only place I know of in the UK is HomeChip.

You could also look at the likes of:
iButtonLink
HW Group
Fuchs

This page may also be worth a read: http://www.arunet.co.uk/tkboyd/e1dhw.htm

Hello,

Im waiting on the HW Group retailer to replay, but I suspect it’s going to be silly money.

I wonder what happened to all of Eric’s designs/documentation, has he sold it to someone who will continue, would be a great shame for all that knowledge and design to be not ever used again…

I am looking into the same issue. I planned to get a new masterhub for my Hobby-boards sensors, but then I found out that HB had closed down.

I would like to get a new masterhub with ethernet connection, can anybody reccomend a masterhub that is HB compatible - or are all 1-wire masterhubs more or less the same?

The one(s) I am considering are OW server (http://www.homechip.com/1-wire-controllers/masters/ow-server.html) and LinkHub E, 32K, Ethernet Hub (http://www.homechip.com/1-wire-controllers/masters/linkhub-e-32k-ethernet-hub.html) and HA7net - Ethernet 1-wire Host Adapter (http://www.homechip.com/1-wire-controllers/masters/ha7net-ethernet-1-wire-host-adapter-205.html)

I would also like some more sensors, and also wonder if anybody can reccomend a supplier for the following equipment that will work together with other HB equipment;

  • rain gauge
  • leaf wetness
  • UV
  • Solar

The only UV sensor I have found is a i2c device… so a raspberry pi could be used.

You might find some other sensors at http://www.sheepwalkelectronics.co.uk, I have spoken to the chap that runs it, and he is considering making other sensors, however it was quite a while ago I spoke to him.

If Eric is watching here, is there something we can do to get the diagrams/firmware so we could get our own manufactured.

The only other idea is to consider i2c bus, I have driver chips that make it run to about 30 meters plus. Or even mount the raspberry pi nearer the sensors. I have a lot of experience with Pis with a number of sensors for various projects, I have around 19 of them…

I wonder if 1wire is dead for us, maybe time to move to a easier way to interface to sensors, seems a great shame.

I’ve considered starting a 1-Wire supply business much like Hobby Boards.

I’m wondering just how much business there would be. Eric must have had a solid reason to close his business.

The problem with the 1 wire hub ,is you can not get the MicroLAN coupler,DS2409P this part was used
for the older hub

There seems no information on how the new type of hub Eric made , and the way he got around not using the DS2409P

There must be a way to make a new hub

Mick

If you start a 1-Wire supply business, please keep me informed:)

I am looking for a new 1-wire hub, my intention was to get the new from Hobby boards, but the day I logged in to order the business was closed down:(

My weather station project has come to a standstill, currently the weather cameras are the only things operational…

Tips about HB sensor compatible HUBs are appreciated:)
