Leuven-Template 2.8 version available

Release 2.8 brings far more easier install for first time users.
The WiKi information about the settings is now integrated into a setup Q/A program.

For users of older releases there is a “copy old settings to new release” function also. This will reduce the time spent to create the settings file.

All settings are now on a single line, no confusing if {} or lines with the same names with/without comment marks.

Functional improvements mostly “under the hood”

Demo, this time my daughters site Home - Weerstation Wilsele-Herent or my own one http://www.weerstation-wilsele.be/?lang=en

These and other demo sites at http://weather-template.nl/weather28/
I try to move away from the current “they all look the same” demo’s. If you will be running 2.8 later on and are not using MH or MB, I like to add you to the list of 2.8 demo sites also.

Support / wiki / download site: http://support.leuven-template.eu/

Example how the Q&A windows look:

but I can use the 2.7 still?

UNTIL many years from now.

2.8 is especialy interesting for NEW users as entering the settings is done in 20% of the time. And without any PHP errors.
Also for Saratoga users who want to use one or two scripts in an iFrame on their main site, example if you want to use this http://www.weerstation-wilsele.be/index.php?p=wsReports&lang=nl&ipad
Setup is quick as settings are converted for Saratoga in the same way. Uploads are not needed if the scripts do not need the weatherstation data.

Also interesting for Leuven users with release before 2.6. If you want one of the multiple new scripts available in 2.7 and later.

Only interesting for 2.7 users if you absolutely want that ugly Davis VP2 console on your site.
I doubt if anybody will use that page more than once http://www.weerstation-wilsele.be/index.php?p=console&lang=nl#data-area

I am still working on that brand new modern DavisVP3 console script, for the next release shortly after March 31 next year.

Wim

I wouldn’t want it on my site much less on my wall ( as it is painfully there) http://www.desmoinesweather.org/Desk%201.jpg

 But it would also be nice if Davis thought along the same lines  I really think it is time for VP3…

Come on guys, Wim’s console display looks way better than the actual VP2 display

Thanks, but do not watch it without switching the lamps off. Otherwise the temperature value can become far to high for your computer display.
Wim

I think you should simulate that lights-on temp error in the script

I made the stupid promise that that console script would work with every Leuven supported weather-program. Took me enough time to pass the easter eggs this time. Next release maybe.

Meteobridge version: http://www.weerstation-herent.be/weather2/index.php?p=console&lang=nl

Clicking the (i) button shows the authors of the original scripts, credit where credit is due =D>.
I removed the data parts and added the ajax driven data code. So the console is updated with the same ajax javascript as the standard template dashboard.

For the graphs I used clientraw if available or the WU data source. If that is also not available, no graphs on the console, sorry.

Wim

config script has an error

In the other W* forum the same question was asked:
Please try to change your PHP version by using your providers cPanel and use a PHP version at of least 5.4
You do not have to use 5.6 or any current version, but staying with release such as 5.3.29 will inhibit multiple scripts.

I modified the tz.php and guess what a new error . . .

So you should either upgrade your PHP version:
or do it the hard way. Unzip this us version of wsUserSettings.php, replace the current one in weather28/_my_texts/ and do all settings adaption in otepad++.

Or use the modified tz.php script from the attachement by replacing ther current one in weather28/configure/.

I removed the other 5.3 unsupported language constructs also. But my advice still hold: use a relative recent version of PHP when possible.

Wim

tz.php.zip (2.97 KB)

Well after a few hiccups I have this working but http://www.hc-iom.co.uk/weather28/

the dump script worked but the zip file downloaded failed to open with winzip
transferred oldsettings txt from 27 and put in 28 my text folder
went through the login and setup ok and generated file again zip version failed to open
transferred settings file to the correct folder to test and got a error 500 screen

so did it manually using original working settings file and filling in and testing at various stages
have not sorted the menu yet but I was glad to see the console works (as my attempts failed or stopped working on my main site) the only thing not working on the console is the rain info is not cycling (no month or year totals showing)
on the button menu on the console the bottom line should read 24hr Bar graph.

Thanks for all your hard work on this

Harold

@all When running in .zip unreadable files use the file from step3.

The dumpSettings script generates two files

STEP 1: Loading a settings file for release 2.7 or later
STEP 2: Generating text file with old settings
STEP 3: File is saved as HTTP://release230/weather27/cache/oldsettings.txt
STEP 4: Please check the file by clicking on the link and return here for the last step.
STEP 5: Download a zip HTTP://release230/weather27/cache/oldsettings.txt.zip

Both files created are stored in the weather??/cache? folder on your current system, (in the example above it is weather27/)
The oldsettings.txt is a always readable simple file.

You can use your FTP program to download that file to your PC and upload it to your weather28/_my_texts? folder.

Most of the user can click on the download link (STEP: 5)

@hcorrin
Sorry for the extra work. Should have emphasized this alternative of using the text file.

=== console
It is my first shot as I cpromised to do it, for 12 weather programs. Will take some time to iron out all missing features. And then the VUE console also.

Hello Gentelmen

Have just installed lates template 2.8. As always its looking good

But have a tiny icon issue:

When changing false to true on the “yrnoIconsOwn” in wsusersetting.php, the icons disepear in the mobil template forcast.
Change to false and templates own icons is back.

YR.no - This forecast is required for the “smart-phone / mobile” pages

$SITE[“yrnoPage”] = true; # true = Yes, we want this forecast, also for our Mobile pages | false = Do not display
$SITE[“yrnoID”] = "Norway/M

Thanks alot with icon issue Wim
Works like a charm

Good morning forum.

Still adapting 2.8 template, so found a small iritating look with the wureports regards comma decimal look. (think thats the name for it)
Temp, Wind, gust is showing numbers rounded up to nearest number like 10 or 15 or 30.
Wuld be nice to have the wu reports show the actual readings like 13,2 or 25,7 and so on.
See photo with rounded numbers.

Also if any weather nerd out there now how to impliment into the 2.8 template, Murry Conarroe detail/summary/season scripts for use of my own vp2 wd data. Script here: Wildwood Naturist's Resort - Downloads
I tried make a new site and inputed like @include_once(“wxwureports.php”); with fatal error

Aprisiate all help on issue

Thanks for info and help Wim  super support.

When I load the page for the fist time in the browser I get the following error

Notice: Undefined index: gustMaxHour in /home/wester55/public_html/weather28/scriptsWD/tagsWD.php on line 276

When I refresh the page, the error goes away.
