Looking for testers for the new Mac version :)

Hi Guys
Looking for testers for the next version (which is a port of the latest windows version)
Its done with a new compiler and also has had to be re done too (after my hard drive crash)…has taken me a long time and alot of hours
There are some things to get working yet correctly
It should be snappier than the old version

Brian,

I am currently running windows version but happy to try the Mac version on my iMac running Yosemite. Is it easy to get all the settings from the windows version over to the Mac version? How can we download the Mac version?

Paul

there are a number of older threads about migrating the settings
e.g the wdisplay.ini file needs to be renamed to all capital letters
when WD mac is first run all the data and settings ends up in
users/[yourusername]/Documents/wdisplay/
so that is where you can copy the settings files and data files too
the wdisplayftp.reg file needs to be changed to a ini file and all the window registry headings needs to be stripped back to just leave the heading as per a normal .ini file
(i.e using copy/replace in notepad.exe)

Brian,

I will send you my WDisplay.ini file when I get home. I’m running build 20 on Yosemite

Will this version be the same as what I have now or some new bells & Whistles?

Look forward to seeing it…

VERY MUCH APPRECIATE your time and dedication to this.

it will be faster than the old version
due to compiler optmisations on OSX (with the upgraded compiler)
and I found a faster and better way to create the web images too
also the com port data from the weather station should be more reliable/faster
but though I am still to get the Davis history data working yet (live data is OK)

WDisplay.Ini sent via email

If you need log files or anything else, let me know

ok, first look
http://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/weatherdisplaynew.dmg
tested with Davis (live data only at this stage), WMR100/200 (needs more work), Acurite, WMR300

note the new name weatherdisplay instead of WeatherD

I run WD on a Win 8.1 PC using a Davis Vantage Pro2 - USB interface. Using R272 and it seems stable at present. I also have a a spare MBP 15" so I have the option of switching to your Mac program later - perhaps. I am typing this on my new 13" MBP (both running Yosemite). I have given up trying to get the PC and this machine to talk to each other so I installed your new app here and thought there was a means of collecting the client raw.txt from the internet. I have made the station stationless and in CP/FTP/Client Server added the URL of the client raw and placed a tick in the data is from the internet box. I have switch the page on OK-ed it and restarted WD. The main screen is left blank (no data received). I then noticed that the tick box was not holding the tick which might require looking at. I hope I am doing the right thing here.

EDIT: I had the client switch turned ON which was perhaps wrong. With it off the tick box is held. It still doesn’t give me any data.

I have not tested this function
was really looking for testers with an actual station, of the models listed above

just working currently on getting the WH1081 supported

new update up which has support added for the WH1081/Fine Offset station

there is a problem with the latest update…missing files…re uploading…stand by

@G4MHJ I do have the client/server using data from a clientraw.txt file over the internet working now…will let you know when ready to test
(and yes those switches were around the wrong way)

here is a .zip update
http://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/weatherdisplaymac.zip
unzip to the weatherdisplay application bundle (Contents/MacOS)
to get the client/server working

and a new full install
http://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/weatherdisplaynew.dmg

realised the .zip update I had uploaded to that wrong directory
that is there now #-o

I have discovered a problem if you using custom tags…they are processed very slowly…
Have fixed that…will get an update uploaded

Hello Brian
I downloaded again the DMG file an now it works well…

the only problem i notice is with my weather station
i have a WeatherHawk station (the 600 series) with IP Module so i choose this station in the setup menu and i set up the IP A

i can give u the dynamic address of my station maybe u can do some tries by yourself for solving the issue

this is the address of my IP MODULE:

thanks again!!!
Marzio

hi
ah
yes
the cronhawkip

what is the output that is created by that with the old version?
I will include that and see about hooking up with the new version (once I know the output format )

I have fixed the issue with the custom tags now in the latest full install
http://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/weatherdisplaynew.dmg

I am working now on getting the 2310 type station working

the problem is that i deleted the old version of WD and the cronwhawkip file too…maybe u can give me the link to download only that file (the cronhawkip file) so i can try to copy it inside the Resource folder and make some tries…

thanks

Regards

Marzio

ah
download from
http://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/crongethawkip.zip
it should create a file…let me know what is in that file

good news , I got the 2310 type station working
based on the current linux version code
which means basicly most station types will be supported via that now

the Davis VP (usb data logger) will be using the new com port component…which with having that in use also means can more easily add support for like a currentcost device
also I should be able to get the Davis history data working now…will work on that and test then upload this latest version
