Hello

After the Beta install of WD v.259, Weather Display was sending data to Twitter (and still saying that the last sent was ... which looks ok ) but Twitter is not posting the weather tweets (which it has done successfully and reliably for a long while now). Nothing was changed at my end. I have since checked that the number count of chars has not exceeded 140, sent shorter than 140 chars, changed my Twitter password  3 times (revoked permission for WD Display app in Twitter) and with the the password changes have tried to re authorize the WD app with my Twitter username and password but it gets just so far with the authorisation as it seems to hang at the point where I'm told that I'm being returned to the WD app on my PC. I've installed WD v.262 now but it makes no difference. Also at the allotted interval for an update, I get another request to authorise the app on Twitter which I duly do and then it hangs as above. As a matter of interest, Weathercloud is still posting to Twitter, and have just seen a missive from Twitter saying that Twitter is not seeing my username and password from WD

Has anyone any ideas where or what the problem is as I don't know what else I can do?

Have you tried deleting twitter.ini from your wdisplay folder and then trying to set up/reauthorise again?

Hi Martyn

Tried that, and the twitter ini file was receated with :-

[tokens]
ACCESS_TOKEN=
AUTH_TOKEN=
ACCESS_TOKEN_SECRET=
AUTH_TOKEN_SECRET=
REFRESH_TOKEN=
EXTRA_DATA=
(1kb size)  There were 2 Twitteroauth.txt files which I cleared but they were not recreated (probably as the authorisation didn't succeed). Those files were probably old files (2011 dates) from previous Twitter / WD authorisations but were saved.

So no further ahead I'm afraid at the moment

Ah, ok. All tokens blank in the.ini does point to an authorisation issue.
Internet Explorer drivers are used by the Twitter program - cache/history/cookies may need to be cleared in IE.
Apart from that I don't know what is happening for you right now, sorry - I can say that my twitter is updating ok.

Hi Martyn

All good suggestions which I do appreciate. Have cleared all of those bits and pieces in both IE and Firefox but sadly to no avail! I'll wait to see if Brian or others can suggest something I've missed.. but in the meanwhile, many thanks for your inputs

Hi Brian

The version I have of IE 11  is v.11.0.9600

Update v. 11.0.18  and it's set to update automatically.

With respect to running WD as administrator, I'll check that out in a moment and report back to you. I haven't changed anything here and WD  and Twitter have not been a problem.

Hi Brian

I stopped WD and then "Run as Admistrator", tried a test send to Twitter but it still hangs during the authorise process. Brian, to save starting another topic, over the past few days I've noticed that when I restart WD, the missed data from the Meteohub is slow to load. I know you fixed this a while back but it's all slowed down and I think thats over over the last few days it's occured.

try making sure IE is not set to block pop up windows

re meteohub..been no changes there in WD
it sort of points to a local problem with your pc and your LAN
try rebooting?

Hi Brian

Popup Blocker is not turned on.  I've also set up a new Twitter account and WD won't work with that either ... same issues. I'm going to check out the Firewall and program permissions in a while to make sure something hasn't changed and I'll reboot the meteohub and the router and see what happens.

Hi Brian

Checked all that I can think of and fundamentally no changes. I just don't know. WeatherCloud only posts to Twitter once a day, so for the time being I'll have to put up with that!

Hi Brian

Ok on the debugging. I'm away for a couple of weeks from Saturday, so if I don't get back to you straight away, I'm not ignoring you!

Regards

Richard
