Station illumination - sad git question!

Hi all,

I have a Vantage Vue pole mounted. Now, I’ve decided I want to have it illuminated at night, not mega brightly, just so it can be seen - possibly in say blue or red if possible.

Has anyone done this or any “cheap” ideas of how to do it. I have loosely considered some kind of LED light mounted on an arm shining at it, or maybe something on a nearby shed roof.

I don’t want to blind the neighbours though and I’m in the UK.

Regards
Woody

I use a solar light for mine. Not too bright but does tell me if the pole is still standing.

how about one of those clip on solar flag point lights, then put a filter over the light in the color you want.

I use a small red LED on my station held in place by a neodymium magnet. Then powered by a 9 volt AC to DC adaptor operated by a remote switch located in my room. Just bright enough to see but not a blinding light. Just looks like a little red dot on my station at night.

I used to use a red fluorescent bulb like those sold as party lights attached to the pole by the same magnet apparatus. Then it became a pain to have to take down the thing every time the bulb burnt out.

A friend of mine in Massachusetts operates a station on West Island near Fairhaven and he has a solar LED light on his set up. Works pretty well. Tonight I’ll get a picture of my light.

Here’s the light. It’s a small unit I installed for the same purpose. It’s easily seen from a distance but not blinding.

I also use it to signal to my neighbors when the station is offline for maintenance. When the light is on the station is online. When the light is off the station is going through maintenance.
