New version of Leuven-template available

I like to introduce here the latest version of a complete template set to be used with Weather Display and consoleWD (for RapsberryPI): the Leuven-Template. Being fully multi-language, multi unit, this template set is now used by more than 50 sites (as I am aware of) and is used in the US and Europe. From October 23 the download will also support Canada.
The template includes forecast and warnings pages for local suppliers (f.i. NOAA or EC) but also from World-wide suppliers as Met.No, the Norwegian Weather organization, sometimes referred to as YrNo (which are actually two different organizations).

The template can be very easily adapted (CSS) for colors, menu placement and background photos. It can also use a different color / background based on the current weather conditions. The start-page can be heavily customized also. A subset of the possible adaptions can be done on the fly. Please try menu choice: “Customize” in the template menu examples below.

A mobile version of the template is built-in. If the template code detects a mobile device the user is automatically redirected to the mobile version. If needed the visitor can switch back to the full version and this choice is remembered for a future visit.

If the template has to be used in a “Joomla” type environment, one can customize (via settings): if the menu, the headers and or the footers should be displayed inside the “joomla” wrapper.

Documentation and download: http://www.weerstation-leuven.be/
The documentation is in English (and Dutch).
Supported languages included in the download are: English, French, German and Dutch.
Users already translated the language files to Romanian, Finnish, Italian, Swedish and these files are available on request.

Probably their are language errors as Dutch is my native language. So for every language (including English) there is a language file which can be changed to get rid of the errors. Or to use a better wording, if you prefer.

Please be aware that these sites can work with different weather-programs. So every few days I change the default weather-program for testing purposes.
Supported weather-programs are WD, consoleWD, Cumulus, WeatherLink, Meteohub and Meteobridge. It is also extremely simple to test/use/switch to another weather-program. All scripts are the same and all uploaded tag-files are stored in a separate folder for every weather program. So for the three sites mentioned above, there are four weather-programs uploading to the same site and the selection which weather program should be used is in the last characters of the URL. (&wp=WD or &wp=CU a.s.o.)

All comments and remarks to improve the template set and other scripts are welcome.

Wim

NICE, but I would prefer a wide screen version.

you can set the wide of the template on any size you want using the settings. Some use 900px, others 1200.
Wim

Thanks Wim, i really like your templates and how easy they are to customise.

I do have one request - Is it possible to ad the UK Met office weather to the front page?

Here’s My customised version of Wims templates for anybody who’s interested -http://www.nantwich-weather.co.uk/ running WD console for Raspberry PI.

I will look into that Met office report next week when i am back from a short vacation. Wim

Thanks Wim

The updated release 2.31 contains scripts for Canadian users for forecasts and warnings from EC. Also an AQHI script on the startpage is added.

Thanks Wim. Seems to work well.

One small problem though, cluster marker image is not accessible. There seems to be a location error:

cluster marker image

Yes, i saw it when I was testing just now for a Canadian problem.
The upload is refreshed.

Download again or change the sarGlobalV3 to glo, if you can search for them. It is on 3 places.

Thanks its great now

Whats New:
1. Adaptable startpage. In the current release the startpage (menu choice “current weather”) is adaptable on a few points such as which forecaster, yes or no soil info, and an extra YoWindow gadget.

Release 2.40 offers more and different components that can be selected and put in any order om the startpage.
The menu choice to view current available components is the second one on both demo sites.

2. WiKi. The documentation is no longer included in the download. All current release pdf-documents could already be read on-line. I am nearly finished rewriting everything and putting it in a WiKI: http://wiki.leuven-template.eu/doku.php And yes, it is draft typing. But before the end of December I have everything spell-checked. And as Dutch is my native language please be kind about the English version as long as it is understandable. In future releases the WiKi can be downloaded also. It does not need SQL.

3. Test of support ticketing system. On the demo- and WiKi-sites a pop-up support form is available if things are still unclear. Also the http://leuven-template.eu/?lang=en website is created to improve the response times and gather all support type activities in one place . It also uses a different provider as the one for the demo-sites.

====

For those who want to start testing the Leuven-Template, the download is “finished”. So better use the 2.4b release if you start from scratch.

In January I will write a conversion doc for current 2.3x users.

Wim

Thanks for this!

The Wiki already made me correct an error I had on my Steelseries display.

Current releases Leuven-Template: posted at 2015-April-29

All information (WiKi), downloads, demo-sites, userlist and so on are accessible using the support site at http://leuven-template.eu/

Please do not use any other link you find in this forum. If you find a not-updated link somewhere in the “back to 2014” forum pages please send me a PM and I will adjust those posts.

Thanks go to Chris for bringing most of the forum back to live.

Wim

Hi Wim
got the host server updated and has php 5.4 on
have done most of the config now
Template link on main site

I have a folder called backup at the same level as weather2 it has most of the file in that are in the uploadWD folder (using dif ftp in WD to work at present) I tried changing it in ws_settings but got 500 error so I am not sure its possible to point to a different folder but is working with the WD ftp option

Harold

As you are probably aware all posts between jan 1, 2014 and april 28, 2015 on this forum are lost from the forum forever.
So I can not refer to or read old postings you or I did.

If you want to point to an other folder for all uploaded data, you have to change line 168 weather2/wsSettingsWeather.php
from

         $SITE['uploadDir']	= 'uploadWD/'; // #####
         $SITE['uploadDir']	= '../backup/'; // #####

A test: http://www.hc-iom.co.uk/backup/testtags.php?sce=view shows the files are there and accesible from the outside.

Please change this setting and if there are errors, leave as is and send me an e-mail, pm or post.
A 500 error is so general, I have to see if there is some indication what the problem could be.

In some rare? cases the settings in Apache / PHP are such that you are only allowed to acces files in folders in the same “tree”
So root => weather2 => script
This script can then executing here can only see folders in weather2/ and all folder below weather2/

If this is the case you have to contact your provider to change these Apache/PHP settings as it is quit normal to access all scripts within your own website.

Wim

Hi.
Is the template for win or mac?

Hi Wim
thats where I went wrong no “…” before the "/backup/"when I tried, " ‘…/backup/’; " worked thanks

Harold

The template is available for 11 Weatherprograms. WeatherDisplay on PC works OK, not tested yet for Mac. I do not expect much problems but need someone to test. Also works OK on Mac with WeatherCat.

Wim

Just checking. (I have pc (win)). Have uploaded the weather2 folder and it looks great.
But I guess I will get lost soon. The program is enourmous.
