downloading now. will report later…

Being that I helped test the iWD for Android app through development I am probably a bit biased  but pretty good Weather App for those that want to check their station weather, along with a number of options for graphs, which you can choose and change at will…

Also has bookmarks for those of you that want to check the weather at other WeatherDisplay Locations…

OK I like this app very much Brian…

One question, how do you exit it? Only way I know how is to press the home button on my S4, then I have to manually kill the process, since there is no exit button and the back buttons dont exit.

From WeatherDisplay on Facebook a good tip is to hit the phone home button instead of the back button (to the right of the home button)...then the app is running in the background...it it will time out and stop updating after a bit...when you launch it again...it comes back from 'behind'..and then just touch the screen to get it to update again

But there is no way to do a clean exit at this time?

you can, via holding down the home button to bring up task manager…then force a stop

also note this app needs a phone with NEON CPU Feature
you can check for that with this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Bfield.CpuIdentifier
(phones in the last year have that)

Sure I got that, I can kill it, but most android apps the back button will ‘close/exit’ it.

I have Samsung Galaxy S4…

it will from any tab that is not the weather tab

Ok I figured that out. However when I start it back up I get black screen most of the time. I tap and wait nothing. Have to kill the process and restart

which is why I recommend to just hit the home button instead (and is why I disabled the back button on the main weather screen)
(the problem you have encountered is a problem with the compiler…hopefully will get fixed soon)

I saw this and thought I’d like to try it however a while ago there was a thread, which apparently has now been removed, about such an app Brian was developing. I downloaded the test version and discovered that my Sony Xperia would not run it, I just got a black screen. As this thread now seems to have gone I can no longer review it to see why my phone would not work.

My other concern right now is that there seems to be no way to stop the app without forcing it. I dont like loads of apps running in the background as this helps drain battery which is an issue with most Android phones. I hope that Brian will resolve this once the compiler has been fixed.

Stuart

read the thread above to learn about how to find out of if your phone is compatible
also read above that the app suspends itself after a time out of no user input when running in the background
so your concern about draining the battery is not founded if you just use the home button

Stuart,

I downloaded the test version and discovered that my Sony Xperia would not run it, I just got a black screen.

My Galaxy S3 did the same thing with the original test iWD for Android, however since that time Brian has worked a bunch at making the app compatible with more phones and it now works perfectly fine on the galaxy S3.

The big issue is making sure your phone provides Neon support which you can test using this free app.

The thread that you are referring to had to be removed as there was some discussion within the thread which at the time violated confidentiality agreements…

Works fine on my Galaxy S4, can’t DL it on my brand new Nexus 7 tablet, says it’s not compatible :sad6: Hopefully it’s a work in progress as is all Brian’s hard work. That’s the only reason I paid the most I have ever paid for an Android app. It’s nice to have at hand and it helps Brian to keep in business.

Dave,

This may explain your Nexus 7?

Thanks Bob. as I said hopefully it’s a work in progress and it’ll be available to more devices in time. Thanks to you and Brian for all the work done on it.

All the work is Brian… I was simply a lab rat

The biggie is whether the device shows Neon as being supported, and from what i read about the nexus 7 is that Neon is supported BUT the device reports it is not… #-o

Bob I have no doubt Brian has worked hard on this… I was just a bit concerned at not being able to review the other thread to remind me of the problem. I do understand about why the thread had to be removed.
