HOWTO: ConsoleWD for Raspberry Pi Setup Instructions - Old version

the config.txt file is included with the consolewd files

Sorry, I did not make myself very clear on that. I have found the config.txt file in the consolewdfiles that I have just downloaded…My question is is there a way of generating a config file from my present set up (see attached screenshot)…as I cannot find a config.txt file associated with that old setup. I can go through the config line by line and put in the appropriate information (assuming I can find it!) …but if I can get the information from my old setup, then it saves me a whole lot of time!

your old setup uses a ini file
and not a config file
some of the settings you need will be in that (e.g in WDISPLAY.INI or wdisplayftp.ini)
I presume consolewd runs now for you after you followed the readme.txt and not wims instructions?

pi@raspberrypi:~/Documents/consolewdfiles $ sudo ./GoWdconsole.sh
sudo: ./GoWdconsole.sh: command not found
pi@raspberrypi:~/Documents/consolewdfiles $ ls
config.txt cronmysql datafiles tagslist.txt
consolewd cronmysql2 deploy wdconsole.ini
croncwop cronwindfinder GoWdconsole.sh wxlocal.html
cronftp cronwow libhid.so.0
cronftpnoaareport cronwu logfiles
cronftpreal customclientrawlocal.txt readme.txt
pi@raspberrypi:~/Documents/consolewdfiles $

No, what have I done wrong?

just run it as
sudo ./consolewd

pi@raspberrypi:~/Documents/consolewdfiles $ ls
config.txt cronmysql datafiles tagslist.txt
consolewd cronmysql2 deploy wdconsole.ini
croncwop cronwindfinder GoWdconsole.sh wxlocal.html
cronftp cronwow libhid.so.0
cronftpnoaareport cronwu logfiles
cronftpreal customclientrawlocal.txt readme.txt
pi@raspberrypi:~/Documents/consolewdfiles $ sudo ./consolewd
sudo: ./consolewd: command not found
pi@raspberrypi:~/Documents/consolewdfiles $

are you running the correct version
i.e what type of raspberry pi
1, 2 or 3 model
and so which version of consolewd have you downloaded and tried to run

Yes, I am on Pi 3…as regards what version of consolewd I am on…I downloaded from the link in Wim

Found the latest version…eventually…could we not have a link button or something? The instructions in the readme.txt are wrong.

the latest version is on the WD web site, download page
and not via wim’s instructions

Found it, thanks…but the readme.txt is incorrect.

Just downloaded the WD display for Linux GUI 64 but it file format is not recognised by my pi… /home/pi/Downloads/weatherdisplay.tar.gz - Archive format is not recognised…weird as it had no problem downloading and installing WD for Linux console 64 bit???

I presume that the only way one can check if the setup is working (for the console version) is by looking at what it FTP’s to your website?..as there is no GUI…is this correct?

the 64 bit GUI version is not for the PI
consolewd is (correct version (one for pi1 /2 and one for pi3)

Thanks for that…that was my suspicion when it did no work…

what pi version do you have?
(1 2 or 3?)
the linux versions you download from
http://www.weather-display.com/fileslinux.php

I have the Pi3 and downloaded the 22 Feb 2018 version for Linux console 64 bit Rpi3

that should work
(it works for others)
(after you copy the files in the deploy folder to /usr/local/ and /usr/lib/)
and then run it as
sudo ./consolewd

Yes, that does work…I have not attached the ENVOY yet…but, as I am used to the GUI version, when I attache the ENVOY, how will I be able to read the output?

so it does run now?
the weather data is shown in the terminal output
and you can get it to produce a web page, clientraw, customclientraw, etc, so you can view the data in a browser window
and there is also a gui simple client program (uses the clientraw.txt) that you can run…double click on that executable file, wdpi
