We have been having quite a lot of wind recently and wxsim has been predicting gusts of around 30-35 kph. In reality the gusts have peaked around 60kph.
I have noticed this in the past with prediction v actuality.
Is this something that is generally difficult to predict?
Is there anything I can change in the programme parameters?

There is a set of Wind Gust Controls on the first tab under Preferences/Settings, and also a Gust Ratio Adjustment in wret.exe (bottom part of the form). These are specific to the programs, so you might want to make them the same to be consistent.
It’s hard to say if you should adjust these, as the default setting is very carefully researched. it may be that it was just a case of the GFS data not properly forecasting the strength of the storm. If it happens repeatedly, though, you may want to try the adjustment. You can learn more about the adjustments by clicking on the blue captions of these sections.
