UK Met Office WOW Set Up
« on: June 04, 2011, 10:28:39 PM »
This tutorial is to help you set up Weather Display (WD) to upload your data to the Met Office Weather Observation Website (WOW).

The first step is to set up an account with the Met Office.
For this, open the Control Panel in WD and click on the WOW logo. (Fig 1)

Fig 1

This will open the WOW Setup Page in WD.
#1 At the top of the page is a link to the Met Office WOW registration website.
Follow the registration process and, once logged in, set up a station.

Fill in as much information and can/want too but you need two numbers from this page. (Fig 2)
Note: On the WOW station data page (on their website) you only need a tick in the box for Mean Sea Level Pressure (MSLP). If you tick "Station Pressure" then a correction will be added to your data and it will not read correctly.

The AWS 6-digit PIN is a your own number, any 6 digit number will do.
The other is at the top of the page and is a 6 digit number that's assigned to your station by the WOW website when you create your station.

Now we go back to the WOW setup page in WD. (Fig 3)

#2 Enter the WOW Station ID that WOW assigned to your station.

#3 Enter the AWS 6 digit PIN that you created.

#4 Set up the upload time frequency that you want to use, this is up to you but it there may be a minimum specified on the WOW site as more stations join. Something like once every 10 or 15 minutes is a good starter.

#5 Make sure this switch is turned to the ON position.

#6 Click the OK button to save the settings.

Now you can go back into the setup window and press the "Test a data send" and WD should upload the data to WOW, if this has worked you should see the sent data at the bottom of the page.

All other settings for your station are via the WOW website.
These include uploading photos of you location, a small banner to personalise your station, the quality of data based on the location of your sensors etc.

Enjoy WOW.

Martin.
