custom tag for last record suggestion ?

is there such a tag?

would be useful if not.

thanks

use a new .zip update and
%lastrecordset%

sorry does this mean use a new version of WD?

thanks Brian .

Yes, you need to get the latest .zip of the updated .exe (with the added custom tag).
Go to the download area and get the file called:

Weather Display zip of the main .exe file, new compiler

-Keith

thanks.

I’m a but nervous about doing this swap over, even though I’ve read the excellent faqs on this forum.

if I exit the current version of WD by choosing save settings, nothing should be lost, right?

just looking for some confidence!

Use “Save and Exit” from the exit menu. Then close all of WDs programs,
unzip the new .exe into the WD folder and restart WD. You’ll be up and
running on the updated .exe with the added tag.

brilliant. that’s good to hear. thank you so much.

is there an up to date list of tags? the wiki doesn’t have the one above.

there is always one in the wdisplay folder on your computer.

Or go to start menu in windows, then weather display then choose tagslist.txt.

thanks Stuart.

I have made the switch to build 43!!

however - my testtags.php looks like the old one i had - ie there is no $lastrecordset nor $forecasticonword

what do i need to do?

…and it has twice been updated and ftp’d since the switchover of builds.

have you added those custom tags to the template file?

no.

how do i do that? i thought that everything was included with the update?

bit confused - sorry - what do i need to do?

… do you mean type the line into testtags.txt in the webfiles folder?

$lastrecordset = ‘%lastrecordset%’;

is there a day and date that links with the last record set?

i get this

$lastrecordset = ‘— value 1027.8’;

what’s going on with the last record set?

it is my “monthly high pressure” after looking it up, but i am a little disappointed with it in terms of layout and format??!!

Here is the stats page to prove that it is the correct value http://www.maidenerleghweather.com/alltimerecordsmonth.gif

Brian - is it possible to please add a couple of tags to show WHAT exactly has been broken and WHEN?

eg

%lastrecordsetname% = ‘Monthly high pressure’

and %lastrecordsetwhen% = ‘12:43 24/5/11’

The original %lastrecordset% tag may actually show that info, but from what i can see mine is stuffed!

Any ideas?

yes it is supposed to show what the actual record was instead of —
that description must have been reset since you checked it

that description must have been reset since you checked it

sorry what does that mean and what do i do then Brian?

It still shows —

coming and making a feature suggestion and then saying you are disapointed in what I have intialy done as a beta is not very constructive to improving what has initialy been made available in my thinking

I will look into how this function can be improved, as time permits

Brian you’ve probably picked up that I’m a novice. I don’t have much clue and am learning the whole time hence my questions.

from your reply I gather that you may have created that tag especially after my question? I did not know this and assumed that it was an old tag that worked perfectly, and so the issue was my end.

of course I’d like to be constructive, I was just disappointed with my result as I thought it was my fault.

I hope that this is correct so far. I assume that the tag does not fully work yet rather than my end. I have no idea what a beta version is. better than alpha?

thanks for your efforts.

yes it was a tag that I added just for you since you requested it
and its beta, which means it needs testing and any problems ironed out
I have improved it in a new .zip update, ready now (will work better for the next record broken)

great that really helps.

so its this one I need?
