What determines the description of the weather NOW

Davis VP Plus

Right now I’m reading the following:

%weathercond% == Humid (91%)
%visibility% = 10.0 mi
%forecasticonword% = Sunny
%vpforecasttext% = mostly clear with little temp. change.

BUT

When I walk outside the entire sky is grey and dreary. There’s SLIGHT drizzle in the air (e.g. feel a spot of rain water every few seconds or so).

Why does it read things like “Sunny” and “Mostly Clear”?

Does anyone know how it derives its definition of what it’s currently like outside?

Do you obtain METAR Data?
METAR data may over ride current conditions depending on METAR settings and Summary Image settings.

hi

the other one is more detailed forecast, in words…i.e fine tuned more
