Thick Smoke

The data for the Chena River is somewhat misleading since the river has flood-control regulation. However, check out the Tanana River (at Fairbanks) and notice that both gauge height and discharge are increasing. This is a result of snow and glacier melt during this time of year.

Chris, yes, I have a problem with regulating the temperature of my webcam. The heat generated by the camera is good in the winter but now it’s affecting the image quality and offsetting the colors. I get too much green. The sky right now is orange-ish due to the sun coming through the smoke but not as much as shown on the webcam image. Plus, I have two orange streaks in the upper right which are due to direct sunlight and damage to the sensor. Perhaps the camera will go back for an overhaul this fall.

FYI, the most popular store in town today is the one with electrostatic precipitator air cleaners. People are going in there just to breath normally.
