WD as a service on XP home

Hello,
I have tried to set up WD display as a service in order to run it even when I am not logged on.
I selected start as service under NT/2000.
It seems that no actual upload of date to the ftp site does not take place until I log in to the PC.

Any suggestions?

Jesper

I don’t believe WD can run as a true service at the moment. Running as a service means that the program will run ‘when no user is logged in’ and it won’t do that for me. I’ve tried using the Windows Resource Kit to turn it in to a service with the srvany utility but that doesn’t work either. WD will run in the background though, as long as a user is logged on. Usually a program has to be specifically written so it can run as a service and I don’t think, at present, it can.

i have seen reports of a program that can you use that will make/convert a program into a service…
