[SORTED] dailyhighlowbaroetc.gif appearing as raindetails.gif

I simply cannot fathom out what is causing this, but on my web page Daventry Weather the image is raindetails.gif when it should be dailyhighlowbaroetc.gif.

The properties of the image show it as being dailyhighlowbaroetc.gif but it clearly is not.

Can ANYONE help?

John

This is a useless reply but I am using bld19 and those two gifs are correct for me. How long has this been happening for you and what build are you using?

Hi lulu,

I am using Ver 10.37j Build 05 and it started happening today for what seems to be no apparent reason. Are you saying that the Summary page on my site appears correctly? I have tried it on three different computers here and on all of the the dailyhighlowbaroetc.gif appears a raindetails.gif.

It even shows as having created DHLBE.gif as raind.gif in both webfiles and on the server.

The server image is below showing a 17Kb file when it should be 20Kb or thereabouts.

I cannot understand why WD is creating one data file as another.

No, I’m referring to those two gifs on my PC. I don’t upload either of them to the website but just for reference I looked them up for you on my PC and they are both there, titled correctly and dated correctly. Sorry for the confusion.

I am considering uninstalling WD and reinstalling it because it seems that things have got into a right pickle. During the uninstall, will it remove all of the Registry entries, do you know? Also, all of my saved data, will that be lost and if so, how can I save it, or would my datalogger have it all stored?

I feel there is a need to start afresh and uninstalling it seems the only way to achieve this.

Cheers

John

what it will be is a out of sequence remote file names in the FTP upload, which occurs when you have 2 the same remote filenames or a missing file or similar
post your ftplogfull.txt file after a upload
(and so they will be OK in your web files folder, but mixed up for file name by the ftp file naming )

Don’t blow everything away. If you ever need to you can test a fresh start of WD with a second install, but be sure to follow these steps:

To install additional copies of WD execute the wdisplay32.exe downloaded file to start the installer, and follow the normal installation procedure except:

Select a different install folder for each new install. For instance if Weather-Display is currently installed in the C:\wdisplay folder you could install the second copy a folder called C:\wdisplay2.

Do not allow Weather Display to start at the end of the install.

When the install is finished use Notepad or a similar plain text editor to create an empty file called “2wd.txt” in the install directory. Creating the 2wd.txt file ensures that WD will create independent registry and other settings for this new copy. Note that Notepad will automatically add the .txt suffix, be careful not to create a file called “2wd.txt.txt”. Also note that windows by default hides the extension for known file types, so uncheck that option in file explorer when checking the 2wd.txt file.

Check that the 2wd.txt file is in the install directory and start the new copy of WD, it will start up as a fresh install with no configuration settings.

Here’s where it gets confused, somewhere between customscreen.jpg and webcamimage.jpg it’s not finding a file, so then it gets out of step.

The correct file is on the web server at the moment.

check your webcam upload settings, that you have selected a web cam file to upload correclty, etc
or turn that off, for now, as a test
as that is a likely problem, that missing file

niko,

Scroll back up and look at the log. There’s white space between customscreen.gif and webcamimage.jpg. Could that be causing it to look for something?

Brian,
I’ve checked the webcam up load settings and they look fine. Both files are creating and uploading properly.

looney2ns,
Yes, but it is the wrong time. It has not created since then and it should every hour.

Thanks to all of you!

John
