WD crashes under XP after installing 9.97b

Hi Brian

I’ll watch it tomorrow morning and see what time my
website did last update
Got my sensors back anyway now

Thanks so far !

He looks good those two guys left ! (the young one, LOL)

actualy, its 4am it does that reset (which might cause a crash…)
(i have not had a chance to test it)

photo:
i had been running around after some cows and calves that morning and was all hot and flustered!

Brian, with your help I have a new copy of WD running. I’ll post the results later.

John

Well…It was up for a couple of hours then XP gave the message that WD had a problem and needs to shut down.

What is the next thing on the list to try?

oh…
now, in the new directory, did it start up with no setings set?

Brian,
Yes. It started blank, out of the box clean.

I also renamed the old folder to XXX OLD and reinstalled WD so it would create a new folder. In this setup WD has also crashed.

I looked at Event Viewer under Application section and saw all the entries where WD has crashed.

Here are a few entries (or part of the entries):

This one is in more often…
Faulting application weatherd.exe, version 9.8.3.0, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.0, fault address 0x0000d756.

This one was the last entry…
Faulting application weatherd.exe, version 9.8.3.0, faulting module weatherd.exe, version 9.8.3.0, fault address 0x0001b298.

Thanks again for your help in getting this solved.

John

humm, that error code just brings up a cpu window…
try the win95/nt version, on the download page, which is an older version…as a test

Brian,
I’ll do that. Should it be OK if I keep my settings/data from the old install?

yes, try installing back to the old directory, that older win 95/nt version
(which I am going to update soon)

Done…I’ll let you know how it goes.

John

what might be happening is some data from the ws2310 wd is not handling very well
what temperature/humidity/barometer?

Brian, The Win 95 version has been running for 11 hours now with no problem.

To answer your question:
Temp 39.3F
Humidity 81%
Pressure 30.209 in.

good news for you, bad news for me…means i might have upset something in the program…but, still very few reports…one other on this forum…

now, that its been ok, please try a new 9.97d…
thanks

Brian,
I have had WD 9.94a running for 3 full days now with no trouble.

What am I missing if I stay at this version?

John

back that installer up
i.e the file
wdisplay32.exe
put it away somewhere safe
so you can go back to it
latest verison you can plot windchill, and other improvements/fixes
and i want to add a 2nd mesomap soon.
some people have had trouble since 9.97b, which i am trying to find out why, but i think you willbe OK (its been ok for me)

I’ll give it a try and let you know.

Thanks!

I’ve dropped back to 9.97c ( win 98 ) no more crashing ( generating error dialog box ) .
Now running over 33 hours ( realtime updates and half hourly FTP updates ) .

I’ll keep this version going as a test ( seem to be stable ) .

Brian,
I reloaded 9.97f last night and have two crashes since then.

At this time I reloaded 9.94a which was stable for 3+ days.

John

9.97g is the latest try at fixing this, there is another thread about this

Brian,
9.97h has been running for 24+ hours with NO problem.

Thanks for all your hard work in getting the problem fixed.

John
