I have had a play with Adobe Illustrator and came up with these, I started off following a tutorial
found online but then went my own way, i dont think they will go small enough to be able to read
but eh, it was a 1st timer lol There no good to me just yet but someone might lile them

These are very very nice, but as you say, when they were reduced to 58x58 size they become unreadable. I even tried to do a little doctoring of the graphics after reduction in Photoshop but they still are unreadable… I maybe should not say unreadable but definitely become pixelated too much to make them look “clean.”
I like it. I’d like to find a use for them somewhere.
They look nice… but you should have used Vectors… Then you would be able to rescale them and export the sized you wanted.
BTW… the arrows are backwards. If the bearing is 90

Hi Kevin, it depends on how you look at it…
Your wind direction outside, it points to where the wind is coming from, not pointing
away from where the wind is coming from… this is what i based it on… Also, this is
actually a compass not a anemometer so the compass is pointing at the direction the
wind is coming from 
As for vectoring, i struggled big time to follow the instructions so baled out and when my
own when, this is why it aint too good when very small 
the smallest readable is about 68px
but not the bearing in the middle, Sorry folks, it was a 1st time try, I will have another go
some time and see if i can follow the instructions better, unless someone else wants to have ago?

Very cool… I’d not taken a look at that before… looks like a lot of work to put that together.
Of all the wind rose’s that have been posted the most functional and cleanest are your style. Your “tool” is great for those that don’t have the time or the skill to create them. They look good even when very small.
I was looking for a new wind rose for a new template project that I am working on and used your style as the inspiration for the set I built in vector graphics. I just activated them on the test site: TNET Test template

… almost impossible to make a arrow rotate around one pixel in the center (actually I found it mathematically impossible to do it perfectly with image rotate php code).
I like your windrose set you made.
Here is the set that I am using in two sizes, 58px and 75px in png format with alpha channel transparent.
Included in the zip file is the Xara raw source file for those that want to play with them.
Another set that I actually created a while ago. After I finished exporting them all out, I realized I had messed up and had SE on both sides of the compass instead of SW on the west side… Ticked off so I put it aside.
I’ve just fixed the lettering now and have them ready to be re-exported out again. Will do that later tonight or tomorrow…
Set will include 3 sizes… 58px 75px and 100px and will include the raw Xara source file as well. I was planning on dropping all but the 4 cordinates on the smallest image and making the letters larger on them.

I put the first one in Xara and in PS and reduced to 58x58 they are not so defined as they are in the dimensions you posted…bummer. Maybe a bolder background color would do the trick?
Ok, I’ve gone darker and enlarged the fonts a tad, is this any better?
