Panasonic BL-C10a Ethernet Webcam Pan/Tilt

Saw a guy at work playing with one of these today. He plans on putting it in one of our remote datacenters so we can see that it going on there.

Kinda cute.

He picked it up for $200. I see them on the net for as low as $165.

I’ve had one for about a year now… on the whole, a fairly reliable little beast.

I have to set it to +10 degrees to see sky from my indoor location, and on power failure, it resets to neutral position when it boots up, so it has to be manually reset. Other than that, it’s a solid inexpensive netcam.

Best regards,
Ken

Couldn’t you just mount it at a 10 deg angle so that neutral would be OK?

#-o Sure. I don’t use the control screen to position the camera except after power failure. I think a little wedge would do it.

Looks like it has regular (1/4 20?) mounting bushes, you could get one of those cheap mini-tripods, or something simple like just glueing a length of allthread into a wooden block.

I believe you can reprogram the home setting on the control screen by clicking on the word ‘Program’, seems to work here OK when the power goes out. Picked up a BL-C131A (Wireless) prior to Christmas for my Bailey Cam (Very nice image :D). Thinking about getting another to replace the LogicTech QuickCam Pro 4000 I have for Weather Cam images. So I can free up the LogicTech for personal use.
