Why Kevin!! I hadn’t seen those the first time around in July!! I should get rid of my ugly mug and use one of those in my avatar!! Thanks a bunch!! It sometimes pays to bounce a past thread to the top so people see it again… Oh btw - thanks for taking a peak at my digi shots under Webcamimages… or on my Photo site…

Hmmm, something to work on… umm looks like I have a customscreen3 to work on…

Thanks so much. Hmmm, sunny Saturday morning, too many neat jobs outside, painting, mowing, changing engine oil & filter (x2), organising the teenagers… smelling the clean country air, feeling the spring sunshine… WxSim says 20deg today, UV = 7… roll on summer!!

Graeme

Graeme,

If you tell me which one(s) you like, I can export a full set, 350x350, 300x300, 250x250, 200x200, 100x100, in png, gif or jpg format.

Henkka

Will look into it the next day or two as I have time.

How about one for Grand Rapids, MI?

Kevin, the 100x100 would be neat especially for the Avatar but the lower font may need to be less bold Like Arial Bold instead of Arial Black for visibility in the smallest format. Why didn’t I see these in July - I have no idea?

And because the customscreen creation does not take in png to start with (png is in layer form and the editing elements in CSC will move those elements around too unintentionally) so he only allows gif or jpg input. So those ones in jpg would be neat gif has 256 colour definition limitations. (Ok if strict 256 colours are chosen to start with.) So yes to jpg and down to 100x100!! Graet stuff!!

Thanks
Graeme

PS - I was working out how I could create them myself and i should try anyway. Just the light and shadow on the edge of the button is a feature I need to find… I use the Paint Shop Pro V8 but that is now owned by Adobe anyway!! HAHA!

I would recommend GIF if you can’t use PNG then.

JPG is most likely the worst selection as it works poorly on images with Text and can’t generate a transparent background.

These images are output with Diffusion which kind of anti-aliases them. The pallet is optimized rather than “web safe” as it is rare to find users with browser unable to deal with them now days.

To make them properly, what type of background will then they used on? Dark or Light?

Also, which of the four were you interested in?

Below is an example of the first with light and dark background anti-aliasing:

JPEG version:

As to creation, these are generated using Xara Xtreame and in raw format are in Vector format. The button look is the use of a backward bezel using a rounded rather than flat form with higher than normal contrast. The images were taken from your own photo album.

Actually png would be fine - I agree, jpg compaction adds distortion and unclear edges, blending of colours etc, png is fine if there are multi coloured images and they control lines well too - I realised I don’t need to add anything to them and Tif is good for transferring files in high definition or even bmp with dpi high say at 300. So yes to png… after all that!! I was liking the one with the smoky sunset and the trees either side. But good to have the variety too.

Sorry - have to go out but I’ll come back and answer your qstns. One background will be this site  … so for light or dark - I would go for the light anyway. If on my home site, it will be a light grey anyway.

Thanks
